how do u even describe this? it's a perfect summer track, with the best background vocals Stereolab ever sang. the rhythm makes u feel like flying and please find one person who want start shouting those silly little pa-pa-pas when they first appear. how many records that are simply BEAUTIFUL can they make?

BEST EP ever.......1999-01-15
My first Stereolab CD ever- i was immediately hooked. The title track is amazing and intellegent- retro/techno/jazz feel with beautiful cafe-cool lyrics in French by Laetitia Sadier singing about politics and human inadequecy as usual. Dr. Octagon's Automator remixes the masterpiece into a haunting dance vibe on the next track. But the highlight of the disc is Autechre's revision of Refractions in the Plastic Pulse. The duo trims down the original 17 min. version into an 8 min. spectacle of beats. Vocals are totally manipulated into robotic pitchshifting declarations and become lost in a frenzy of techno madness which goes through build-up, climax, and a resolution consisting of haunting effects swirling around totally broken (and totally frightening) distorted vocals at the end. The last track is more laid back, but still as haunting as the others with Kid Loco's mix of Contronatura. The whole disc takes on a mystical personality of its own and i will never forget the 1st time i listened to it- it made me addicted to STEREOLAB. Makes a great companion to the UK single release which employs non-LP tracks instead of the remixes and also with the LP DOTS AND LOOPS. (Note: bonus remix is found on the US 12" promo release!)
