About the Artist
Trendy started out as a recording project between drummer, Josh Denslow, and guitarist, Bryan Kenny. Originally intended to be just a few songs the duos ambition led them to create something much more involved. They recruited trombonist/bassist Todd Poyezdala and during the recording they tracked approximately 20 songs, some of which are yet to be finished. The 14 songs that made the CD were finished with the help of a cast of talented guest musicians. Saxophonist and Delmark recording artist, Frank Catalano contributed his unique sound, fluid technique, and great sense of harmony to 4 of the albums tracks. A variety of other musicians and instruments grace Trendys debut effort. Kristy Papak provides a truly inspired Clarinet performance on the song Passing Phase, and (as in god) is highlighted by masterful turntable precision. In the year and a half that it took Trendy to finish this CD, they went from being two friends that wanted to make an album, to a band that has explored many musical territories. What was once intended to be an EP, "Stepping On A Pint Size Version Of You" changed shape with the help and influence of others.

I really enjoy listening to Trendy. Each song takes you on a journey through musical styles never knowing which way it will move next. The songs are interesting and complex. Its instrumental music that never gets boring. There seems to be so much talent on this record. I enjoyed the clarinet in Passing Phase because she delivered a truly wonderful performance. Curtain Call is great, the singer has a beautiful voice and is complimented by a fantastic saxophone solo. I especially enjoyed Monkey List and Oval. This is a wonderful album and each time I listen to it, I find it more fun than the last. It seems like I always discover something new in the songs. It definitely is refreshing to hear talented musicians play interesting music in a time of boy bands and copycats.

Some great stuff coming out of chicago. Trendy's new CD totally blew me away, song after song, intense music, complex compositions expertly executed. Monkey List and as in god are particularly awesome. this music commanded my attention and made me think as well as feel. so many influences so well fused into a totally original format. could be on the verge of a musical awakening. look with anticipation for more good stuff from this group.
