About the Artist
Since August of 1998, Fairgrove has been meeting regularly to cultivate the sound displayed on the enclosed digital media. Four men with requisite agendas of emotional release, they converge to create and perform songs that they find interesting, and that fulfill each participants need for expression. It seems fitting that the first track the world has ever heard from this band refers to the color architects use in their initial plans for a construction. "In Defense of the Inexperienced" sounds like a band with a plan for a mighty structure. The adventurous rhythms of Art Behrman and Chris Vandebrooke (ex-Engine Kid) provide a precarious but firm foundation. Michael Graham's arching guitar melodies soar above the listener. These archs merge to form elaborate vaults for Jay Harrison's elegant keyboard detailing to echo from. Harrison's soulful vocals shimmer and glisten like stained glass. Each lyric becomes a single facet of loss, aggression and release. The most exciting portion of this plan is the radiant noise that emanates from the songs 'Pigs Blood Blue' and 'Country Fair.' These sonic experiments provide the final stylistic flair that is the signature of Fairgrove's sound. This EP is an exceptional debut from a band with a vastly unique sound. It will be exciting to hear a complete LP based on this initial schematic drawing.
