THE MUSIC OF MAY SHOWS AS MUCH ATTENTION TO DETAILS OF THE HEART AS THE SHOW DOES. MY FAVORITE SCORE WAS AN INSTRUMENTAL FROM THE EPISODE WHERE PAUL AND JAMIE HAD TO LET MABEL CRY IT OUT AND 'BREAK HER HEART'. (IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO FIND IT PLEASE CONTACT ME.)THAT SONG ABOUT TORE ME TO PIECES IN THAT EPISODE. AND OF COURSE EVERYONES FAVE OF FAITH HILL'S SONG IN THE FINAL EPISODE.

IF I MAY, IF YOU ARE INTO LULLABYES AS I AM (OR JUST MELLOW SWEET MUSIC) YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK OUT THE MCCAUGHEY'S (SEPTUPLETS)CD, "SWEET DREAMS". I BOUGHT IT WHEN MY NOW SEVEN YEAR OLD WAS A BABY AND I STILL PULL IT OUT AND LISTEN TO IT. NONE OF THE SONGS SOUND ALIKE AT ALL AND I LOVE THEM EVERYONE. ESPECIALLY "OH WHAT DREAMS" BY CHRIS RICE. I got this CD 2 days after I got a new car and was more excited about this CD. However, my version does not have "The Way You Look Tonight" by Madeleine Peyroux. It does have the best song, "Love and Forgiveness" by Julia Fordham. That song sums up the whole show. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of the song "Waiting for You" that was sung in the episode "The Newspaper Stand" I would really apprciate it. I also would like the song from the finale. 5 out of 5 stars A Comic-Opera Treasure!.......2007-01-28

Dittersdorf is a sort of working-man's Mozart; in fact, this opera sounds similar to some of Mozart's early operas. But Mozart sought to break the rules and to explore new musical ideas; Dittersdorf is not an innovator...yet he is no less a master! This performance, too, is a materpiece of refined (not always!) comedy; the arias include some extremely difficult vocal leaps and trills, yet the primary joy is the witty verse. W.H. Auden (no less!) ramrodded this translation to English. And Anna Russell, famed for her "Analysis of Wagner's Ring Cycle" steals every scene she's in! Ad-libbing shamelessly, her introductory aria, all by itself, is worth more than the purchase price!

Eleanor Steber's image on the cover of this set caught my eye while rummaging through the cut-out bins of San Francisco on a recent opera whirlwind. What a lost treasure this performance is - recorded "LIVE" in NYC 1965! All the principles shine, their energy ebullient. Don't hesitate, buy it and smile before it disappears.

My favorite Hooverphonic is their very first album. I was actually shocked when I found out that Mad About You was Hooverphonic because it's much less funky and trip-hoppy than their old stuff. It's very catchy and addicting but I must say that the lead's voice gets a bit too high and grating at some point during the song, dragging it down a bit. I got the song off of a CMJ CD, and I'm not sure I would buy the song as a single import. If you like earlier Hooverphonic, be warned, this is VERY different.

Hooverphonic strikes back after 2 years of silence. Their last album "Blue wonder power milk" was very rich in melodies and new sounds, their new album seems to be a cocktail of the same ingredients. Their first album "a new stereophonic sound spectacular" was a pure jewel of sound. The new lead singer has the clearest voice I've ever heard and the melodies are the kind that give you the goose bumps. Their album yet to come "Magnificent tree" is going to be released on september 25th and the extract song "Mad about you" gives the tone to this new marvellous creation of the belgian band. Order this album if you want to have an idea of the Hooverphonic sound. But before september 25th you have the oppotunity to order the song "Mad about you" and listen to it before the album is released !

Yay! Hooverphonic has released another awesome single, Mad About You. It's one of their best songs to date! The radio single got released here on the 15th in America, BTW. Anyway, I don't know which version of Mad About You this is, if it is either the maxi-single with mixes and a b-side (Visions, that they played at the Euro 2000 ceremonies) or the one with L'Odeur Animale (an album track), but both are great! Get it! The Magnificent Tree comes out Aug. 23 in Japan, 28th in Belgium (there is also another version with a mix of Mad About You and Visions), Sep. 23 in Germany and France, and the 26th in America, so I suggest you get it when it comes out as well!!!

            A friend of mine introduced me to Hooverphonic a few days ago, and I have been thrilled with them. But one song in particular made me want to curl up and put it on repeat: Mad About You. This song has so many levels, it's difficult to describe, as is so much music. It begins with a beautiful haunting string progression that reminds me a little of old Bogart movies. It quickly becomes more modern, but it still has this beautiful Roaring '20s feel about it. Even the line "Mad About You" reminds me of the Sunset Blvd. "Mad About The Boy"... If you have heard Hooverphonic, you will love this. If you like the new trend of bringing back beautiful old styles, like Big Band and Swing, and giving it a new flavor, you will also maybe enjoy this. I certainly have!
