4 out of 5 stars This DOES grow on you.......2002-02-08

I can sympathise with other reviewers up to a point. At first this album doesn't make much of an impression. However, I recently found myself listening to Darkus's contribution and rather liking it, and now some of the other tracks are making an impression too. I just think it's a half decent Drums and Bass album that even Neubauten Purists who are also Completists can adjust to if they make an effort. Try getting hold of it secondhand to be on the safe side and then it isn't such a risky investment.

1 out of 5 stars A complete waste of time for all involved - especially you.......2001-11-17

Yuck! Einsturzende Neubauten's frontman - Blixa Bargeld - has always rebelled against being called an 'industrial' group. He may hate the term, but his band does have some of the genre's ingredients. Bargeld should have saved his interview passion for the one thing Neubauten is truly not - an 'electronic' group. The concept of this CD is lame. Techno DJs mixing great Neubauten tunes with (already) dated electronic style is not only dull, it's lame/stupid/any adjective you wish. The mixers try fast, they try slow, I enjoyed none of it. The CD doesn't capture the band's carefully formed aggressive side, or their uneasy 'quiet' sound. The result is a complete waste of time for everyone involved. Especially for the consumer. Yuck. I was a sucker for this item a few years ago. Save yourself from the same fate. And save yourself some serious money as well. Believe me, if I could swim through fiber-optics and physically restrain you from clicking 'Add to Cart' I would.

    1 out of 5 stars Techno-fools on Autopilot.......2001-01-27

First of all, I should say that I love everything that Blixa and the boys have ever done. Secondly, that I place _Ende Neu_ among the most important rock and roll albums ever made. Unfortunately, putting these purposefully crafted songs in the hands of a bunch of producers with glorified drum machines does absolutely _nothing_ for the music. As a dedicated E.N. fanatic, I truly would urge you not to cave in to curiosity on this one. I think these remixes almost uniformly show a complete lack of understanding of the subtle textures of the originals, and to top it off they are singularly undanceable! Pointless, pallid, artless. Do it yourself instead.
