About the Artist
Originally from Maryland, j.d. came to New York in 1990. Diving into the club scene, j.d. has played at the CMJ Marathon, CB's Gallery, CAMI Hall and the Dark Star Lounge, gaining national press along the way. Guitar Player Magazine described his guitar style this way: "His quasi-orchestral textures suggest Michael Hedges; his aggressive, motoric rhythms recall a young Leo Kottke." Various side-projects have included an experimental guitar piece and string quartet performed at Harvard University's Paine Hall and the wildly irreverent Ween-meets-Zappa group Glued For Thought.

Album Description
With a vocal style reminiscent of Nick Drake, Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, j.d. also has a unique guitar style, incorporating rich, ambient effects into his shimmering 12-string soundscapes. "I guess you might describe it as 'ethereal, heady mood-rock,' responds j.d. when pressed to describe his intense guitar-enriched songs. "That's why 'mood ring' seemed like an appropriate title. I was attempting to explore a wide range of emotions--from low-down, kill-yourself depression to exreme bliss."

It's Almost Hard to Believe that this Album was Produced by the Band and Lead Vocalist Liam Judson (Assisted by Percussionist Ivan Lisyak) at their Own Three Shade Green Studio in the Blue Mountains. It was Then Mixed by Wayne Connolly (You Am I, the Vines, Youth Group) and Mastered by the Legendary Don Bartley.

      An absolutely brilliant album from another incredibility talented bunch of Oz artists. I consider myself lucky to have heard it and now I can subject my ears and body to the aftereffects of Mood Patterns whenever I want. I'm not going to describe it or categorise it. Just listen to the samples - you'll get my drift.

              If you like James Taylor, you will really like Jeff A. His albums are a little livlier, and he is a great storyteller. His album Compass with the song One True Love is one of the all time greats.

              This is one of the best CD's around...the quality of music, great beat and a real genuine touch cant be missed. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys easy lisening with a great beat and would like to get associated with a artist before he "takes off" into the charts.
