Elliot-K felt empowered to move from behind the drum kit to center stage: “A past life experience stole my voice, and blocked me from putting out my vibe.” Elliot-K’s intuitive advisor explained that in a past life, he was a sixteenth century female opera singer in Italy. A lover/manager, who was jealous of his singing talent, strangled him to death. Such high emotionally charged experiences are often retained in our personal cellular memory until healed. Unconscious memories can express themselves in peculiar ways. As a child, Elliot-K was fine with public speaking or performing live on various musical instruments, but would freeze if asked to sing. He also cites a wariness towards male employers and a love of Italian food. Elliot-K was able to heal his fear by confronting the past life lover/manager in this life. The murderer, who incarnated as a woman in this life, repaid her karmic debt to Elliot-K and has been forgiven. With AC/DC and the Ramones as his greatest influences, it was only natural that Elliot-K pick up a guitar and ROCK! His Debut CD, now available on Amazon.com, is an edgy combination of punk and rock with a few touches of “electronica.” Writing, producing, singing, and playing all of the instruments on the CD, Elliot-K has truly put out “his own vibe” for all to hear. Recorded at Philadelphia’s Meatlocker Studios with the help of Brian Bricklin, “Elliot-K” features the first single “You Were So Good.” Listeners can preview this track at either MP3 or IUMA.com. Hard edged as his influences are, lyrically his music delivers a positive message of empowerment, self-respect, and thankfulness. Not bad for a punk trying to do some good.

American Song Potpourri.......2000-08-01

The 28 songs on this CD provide a broad spectrum of American art songs. JanDeGaetani possesses a beautiful mezzo-soprano voice and ideally expresses the proper emotions these songs require. Gilbert Kalish's piano supplies the necessary support without getting in the way of the singer. All in all, this is a good collaboration.

Kalish plays like a pig........1999-12-02

While I enjoyed De Gaetani's singing, Kalish's piano playing reminded me of a player piano.

This is a great album. It spans the spectrum of 20th Century American music from the tonality and romanticism of Stephen Foster to the experimentality of John Cage.

Jan DeGaetani and Gilbert Kalish, with their understanding and sensitivity to the music of their time, combine to form a duo that sets the standard for interpretation of this music.

Students, professionals, and general classical music lovers will cherish this CD in their library.
