Vampire Nation - Wise-Ta-Nech [Pre-European Africa] - Hexagon/J-Bird Records Vampire Nation once again define their narrow self-invented "coven-funk" genre with this release.
About the Artist
Legendary electronic artist from Luxor Egypt blends Middle Eastern music with American darkwave to create the coven funk sound. In 1999 in the wake of the columbine crisis Vampire Nation's infamie reached a peak when the FBI raided their Pittsburgh based studio and confiscated master tapes to the unreleased album 'Narrative: The Life of Fredrik von Hamilton, an American slave'. The case is still pending in a US district court.
After the raid the band dissapeared into the studio for the next...

Album Description
Hypnotic styles build in intensity and purpose from an ambient spiritual safari of dark lounge music into a rhythmic dance of synths and laid back jazz / funk . Seemingly forgotten cultures, imagined thoughts and desires are re-created through the eyes of modern electronica. -middle pillar

Wow what can be send about a classic? Vampire Nation has done once again and excellent job of creating complex subtle and sometimes dark ambient rhythems. This CD takes you to the heart of the dark continent and doesn't dissapoint. This is a band on the rise I highly suggest that you pick this one up!
SMOKING!!!.......2000-09-17
Damn, when i first heard this record I thought it was going to be some guy singing like peter murphy or something. This record is absolutely amazing. The best way I can describe it is African Chillout music, if you can imagine that. Blends flutes, riddling synths, watery piano, and sets the tone with raging african beats and modern day beats as well. This is dark D&B and muscally proliferate songwriting. It a Jewel in a sea of Fools Gold. VN comes highly recommended!

Vampire Nation have certainly developed into a contender within the avant-garde music scene ! Styles that would bring a positive affirmation from 'Sun Ra' to 'George Clinton' , topped with a cool radical 'Fela Kuti' politico-vibe ! A Must Have ! ~Michael Saint Thomas
