1 out of 5 stars best used as a coaster..........2004-09-14

The film theme was tired, as was the music AND this listener.
Get the new offerings by Yanni or Michael Bolton instead, they are much more inspiring.
This is one you should definitely skip.

5 out of 5 stars LA Weekly Award Winner for Best New Genre KLOS Air play.......2002-02-06

In the center of Los Angeles, it's the smoke ridden air and the gruling rain in the winter of 1999.

So what can a band of 10 prodigy's do after pushing an album that's on it's third year and an album to be? I hope come out with a DVD or better.
I heard Xu Xu Fang on the radio on KLOS 95.5 FM here in California.
Edit out the promo ads of others and have this music drop in.
Yeah, I think you know if your into this album or not by the song KMW. I sneaked into the secret show they had at the Troubadour. I don't remember when that was. How cool it was.

A very quick CD if you listen to it at work. I play it on loop from time to time.

That's kinda funny actually cause it makes me move around the desk that I share my co-worker calls it an earthquake but he really like Xu Xu Fang also.

5 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!.......2001-08-04

What an incredible album. There really is nothing else like it. Imagine the most rocking music (Pink Floyd, King Tubby, Black Sabbath, Massive Attack, Prodigy, Beck) combined with a film noir gangster story. The music ranges from hard charging horn blasts to deep-sub bass throbs. Really a masterpiece. It is a dark, creepy and engaging album that is simply one of a kind. I saw them live in Los Angeles at the Knitting Factory and they combined their audio crime story with a neo-noir movie. Some of the most genius art being made and a bleak look at LA.

5 out of 5 stars WoW!.......2001-01-19

This album is awesome. I randomly went to check these guys out at Spaceland in Silverlake, CA. They're great! This CD is comparable to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" in that it also is a rock story (or opera) of sorts. Check out their site xuxufang.com for more information. "LA in the Winter of '99" is about this chap Ritchie, who comes to LA and finds himself in a serious dark journey. Xu Xu Fang's sound is so full of energy and emotion that you almost feel like you're a character in the story; a fly on the wall. Close your eyes and take a listen. Two thumbs up!
