Instant Winner

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Originating from the town of Puyallup, Washington, Instant Winner has spent the past 5 years making original music. Playing an array of genres, the band started to narrow its musical influence down to a predominately rock/ska sound just around 2 years ago. It was around this time that the horns were added to the band, adding a vicious energy and originality that no other bands currently feature. Since the release of their first album at a sold out CD Release show in February, the bands popularity has sky-rocketed as radio station 89.9 FM KGRG has generously promoted the band through posting and playing numerous tracks off the new album. The group spends most every weekend traveling to different cities locally to play shows. They have played a variety of different places including live radio performances, outdoor college shows, and numerous other parties and events. Instant Winner’s sound only lends itself to the aggressive yet danceable nature witnessed at all of the shows. Aside from promoting their current CD themselves and maintaining all other promotions, Instant Winner is currently writing new material accumulating a handful of powerful new songs that will be ready to be recorded and released in the near future. With their evolving originality and creative sound incorporating very likeable rock /ska with horns, Instant Winner has only begun to make a name for themselves in the all ages scene.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2007-07-16

The other reviewer for this album must be confusing it with a completely different band. This is NOT a ska album in the least. It's sort of Big Black meets Black Flag. Hhmm, maybe a very raw Ministry? They're hard to quantify. Not metal, not industrial, not punk. But if you like hardcore punk and industrial you'll love these guys. It, along with Distorted Pony's other album are amazing. Dueling male and female vocals.

3 out of 5 stars Not Bad-not the greatest.......2003-09-08

I am not really a fan of Instant Winner, I basicaly just came across them through garageband.com They sound like your typical Ska band with a dash of punk. If your into ska buy this albulm. You won't regret it but you won't be listening to them until 5AM in the morning. Maybe 3AM. But as I am currently listening to them right now they sounds really good. Buy this albulm. Songs Iv've heard on this albulm are good. They kind of remind me of a toned down version of Less Than Jake.

I never heard before bout this band till i searched for ska bands on audiogalaxy, i downloaded the song About time and i loved it, after this i think im going to get the album. So i dont understand why people is so mad bout free music, that is really useful for new bands to be more popular.

I went to see mest and H2o the other day at the gracelands and these guys got the kids dancing more than h2o or mest. I love Cease and desist and have yet to ehar the other one. But the CD i have heard was phenominal, to bad it is only 7 songs :(. But i love the unqiue musical style... the only band out there with one of them since sublime!

    keep it rock

After listening to this cd, not to mention seeing them play shows, I can easily tell you that Instant Winner is an awesome ska band. If you like any ska at all, you've got to give them a shot! I promise, you will love them as much as I. They're an amazing bunch of musicians, and I think they will go very far in the future. INSTANT WINNER RULES!

5 out of 5 stars These local boys rock harder than any ska band!.......2001-08-19

Being from the Seattle area, I first heard Y2k on 89.9 KGRG, and I loved it. I bought both cds, and was amazed at the diversity and talent that this band has. KGRG has heavily promoted them, and have done live interviews, so I hope these guys get a little more well known. They deserve it, ebing quite possibly the most talented band out there! These guys belnd ska, hardcore, punk, reggae, and everything into some awesome tunes. She does, Iron Fist, and Y2K are the best tracks on this one, but I reccomend buying the self-titled one while your at it. These guys rock!

    5 out of 5 stars Instant Winner-Ska Phenomenons of the 21st century.......2001-07-02

If you aren't from Western Washington, then you probably haven't heard of Instant Winner. You're missing out. This band not only puts on a great live show, they've created an awesome cd too. If you have the chance to see Instant Winner live do so NOW, before they get all "famous" and only play gigantic venues. If you don't live around here, buy the CD. It's cheap, good, and you can be the one to introduce all your friends to the ska-phenomenons known as Instant Winner.

    Seriously. They got it down.

5 out of 5 stars very cool, rockish, skaish, good times.......2002-06-22

I got this album when Instant Winner opened for 5 iron frenzy. I was dragged to the show by a friend who is way into ska music. I'm not so much, but I was blown away by Instant Winner's show. I had to get the disc right away!

They've got clear, upbeat horns, but their guitars and bass don't get bogged down like a lot of ska music. The singer has a kinda strange voice, but it sounds really good with these songs. If I was to compare them to a well-known band, I'd have to pick Guttermouth, but less punk.

Free for All is a really fun album. There is no way to describe it, but good fun light-punk/ska/rock. My favorite track is the fight, followed closely by man down and free for all.

5 out of 5 stars F-ing Awesome- Coolest new Band around-.......2002-06-05

I've seen these guys three times in the past two months, and they are truly talented. This album is as fantastic as the self-titled and Cease and Desist, if not even better. They put on the bets live shows ever, and the music is a sound of their own. Its ska/punk/metal/rock, and sounds awesome. Any fan of rock out there needs to check out these amazing guys from Seattle.

5 out of 5 stars Awsome Seattle Ska.......2002-06-05

I recently saw these guys in concert and they were truly amazing so i got the CD. They're better live but it's still a great CD. I highly recommend seeing them live if you ever get the chance. The best songs on this cd are 1-3,7,11
