The "Golden Age" referred to here spans The Jazz Singer and the advent of the talkies to the death throes of the old studio system in the 1960s. So vast was the era's musical landscape that even this 42-track, double-disc anthology can't encompass all its peaks. Not surprisingly, the bulk of this collection originated with the Tiffany's of the screen musical, M-G-M, a body of work whose riches here encompass both pop-cultural bedrock ("Over the Rainbow," "Singin' in the Rain," "There's No Business Like Show Business," etc.) and some less familiar, if equally delightful star turns: Clark Gable gamely "Puttin' On the Ritz"; the sassy, 1948 original of "The Lady Is a Tramp" by Lena Horne; and a loopy duet of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalban. Fred Astaire's elegant, epochal reign at RKO and M-G-M is represented by "Night and Day," "Let's Face the Music and Dance," and three others, while Metro mainstays Gene Kelly and Judy Garland share equal time and billing. It's not perfect--Cagney's "Yankee Doodle Boy" and/or some Sinatra seem more logical choices than the odd "bonus" duet of Casablanca's "As Time Goes By" and "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago that close out disc one--but it's a stunning, surprisingly comprehensive primer on the Hollywood film musical nonetheless. --Jerry McCulley

They were right--there is NO business like the show business they did way back when !!!.......2006-11-18
Everything that happens in life
Can happen in a show
You can make 'em laugh
You can make 'em cry
Anything
Anything can go....
The clown with his pants falling down
Or the dance that's a dream of romance
Or the scene where the villain is mean
That's entertainment!
The lights on the lady in tights
Or the bride with the guy on the side
Or the ball where she gives him her all
That's entertainment!
The plot and the hot simply teeming with $ex
A gay divorcee who is after her ex
It could be Oedipus Rex
Where a chap kills his father
And causes a lot of bother
The clerk who is thrown out of work
By the boss who is thrown for a loss
By the skirt who is doing him dirt
The world is a stage,
The stage is a world of entertainment!
This two CD set amply proves that the musical melodies and lyrics from the golden age of the Hollywood musical remain unsurpassed to this day. This generous two CD set offers 42 incredible songs from Hollywood classic musicals. Most of these fine numbers are indeed from MGM, as Amazon correctly notes; but there are some RKO numbers and even a little from Warner Brothers. Thank goodness, though, that most of these songs came from MGM movies; MGM was the only studio that could boast that it truly had "more stars than there are in the heavens."
I love so many songs on these two CDs. Of course, there's the unforgettable classic "Over The Rainbow" sung by Judy Garland; she also performs "Easter Parade" and "Get Happy" on this two CD set and she carries most of the tune for "I Got Rhythm" even though Mickey Rooney helps her a little. I love "Baby, It's Cold Outside" for its' romantic overtones; and Lena Horne's "The Lady Is A Tramp" is flawless! We also get a rare chance to hear Clark Gable sing in "Puttin' On The Ritz;" and Bing Crosby's "Going Hollywood" may be brief but it's a fun song anyway.
There are two "bonus" tracks on the first CD: "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca and "Lara's Theme" from Doctor Zhivago. "As Time Goes By" is a good choice; it is another unsurpassed classic song that brings back memories and touches even the hardest of hearts. "Lara's Theme," however, is from the mid 1960s and I don't consider this period to be part of the "golden age" of Hollywood musicals.
The liner notes are excellent and they offer wonderful photos of the stars as well. The cover art is well done and the reverse cover art tells which movie each song is from and who is performing each song. Moreover, the quality of the sound is excellent especially when you consider that these numbers were recorded quite a few decades ago.
In short, this superlative two CD highlights the glory of the Hollywood musical when a certain type of sophistication dominated professional movie production. I highly recommend this CD for fans of Hollywood musicals, classic pop vocals and fans of the artists and actors who perform on this two CD set.
One of the best cds I ever bought. .......2006-06-07
What an amazon collection of songs! This is bar none my favorite cd just because of the variety and the quality of songs on it. I love music from this era, and this cd is the perfect companion to my life. Love it! Buy it, you won't regret it for a moment!
Never Sounded Better.......2006-03-16
Apart from the great selection of soundtracks, what really makes this compilation top value is the quality of the sound processing. Executed with finesse, these tracks sound better than when first issued and many are unedited, fuller versions: like "Singing In The Rain", for example. Throw in the great price, and this double disc set is a "must have" for all lovers of classic movie music.

It was once said by the songwriters of that era - "There are two artists you want perform your songs on the big screen, they are Fred Astaire and Judy Garland they sing it just the way we wrote it, for which you will have a guaranteed hit on your hands"...well, this collections certainly has some merit to that statement...because with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire performing seven songs each, there must be something to it.
This collection of musicals still has the magic that we remember from those bygone years...but as long as we have the labels and networks who play and show these wonderful films of yesteryear, they will never be forgotten...hats off to Rhino Records, George Feltenstein (producer) and Doug Schwartz (engineer) and Turner Classic Movies for sharing those 42 selections from 42 films...celebrating decades of the tunes and artists that gave it their all...from what it commonly called "The Hollywood Dream Factory"...The Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals is still among us...gotta love it!

A companion to the fabulous PBS series, the 21-song, 77-minute The Best of "Broadway: The American Musical" provides about as good a single-disc compilation as anyone could hope for. (There's also a five-CD version.) What sets it apart from so many other "best of Broadway" collections is its breadth--because it had access to a variety of record-label vaults it doesn't have to try to disguise gaps by using revivals or solo recordings. Here you get all the authentic stuff, including: Paul Robeson singing "Ol' Man River" from the first modern American musical, Show Boat; Ethel Merman singing "You're the Top"; the title song from Oklahoma!; Julie Andrews singing "I Could Have Danced All Night" from My Fair Lady; West Side Story's "America"; Betty Buckley singing "Memory" from Cats; Hairspray's "Good Morning Baltimore"; and "Defying Gravity" from Wicked, the newest show discussed in the PBS series. And it's hard to argue with the songwriters represented: Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Frank Loesser, Lerner and Loewe, Leonard Bernstein, Bock and Harnick, Kander and Ebb, Stephen Sondheim, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, among others. Obviously, no single-disc compilation could ever please everyone (did we really need two ALW songs?), but as a sampler intended for people who watched the series and want to hear more of the Great White Way, The Best of "Broadway: The American Musical" can't be topped. --David Horiuchi
Customer Reviews:
Some interesting choices, indeed.......2006-03-02
This is a pretty good compilation, but I have to wonder at some of the choices that went into it.
"Good Morning Baltimore" is almost the least impressive song from Hairspray. "You Can't Stop the Beat" was a much more anthemic song from that show.
I agree that it's too bad Les Mis didn't make it in. I would have traded that for anything Sondheim, although that's a personal preference :) .
Still, the opportunity to hear the original performers and orchestras perform these works, all in one place, is a great deal.
Great CD.......2005-11-01
This one plays in the car, on the ipod and in the house. When the kids were little they would ask if we could take them to "The Street". That is what they called Broadway (little did they know at that time how famous that street is). They still love it and we can not get enough of it. This CD covers the best and makes you want to go and see a live performance. You can not beat that.
Great selections, but bad transfers.......2005-07-27
This is a great taste of broadway. If you enjoyed the B'Way series at all, then you will probably enjoy this CD. My problem with it is that some of the songs sound like they were not remastered at all- the transfer to CD is terrible. The orchestrations in "You're the top" by Ethel Merman are muffled, and the song sounds like it was taken straight from an old record and slapped onto the CD without fixing it up. It doesn't sound very clear, which is a bit upsetting and annoying. Maybe this is just because that particular recording is older than some of the songs chosen to be on this CD. The more modern songs sound crisp and new and beautiful. "Swanee" is also very low quality as if it were just taken off of a record and put on the CD without any restoration. I just feel that these songs deserved better treatment and that we as customers deserve better treatment. Decca could have restored these songs and made them sound really good, but they decided just to slap them on the CD without touching them up.
I am surprised that nothing was chosen to be on this recording from Les Miserables since it had been on Broadway for 16 years and its tour is running until 2006. There were selections from Cats, Phantom of the Opera and Wicked, so I am not sure why nothing was chosen from Les Miserables.
Other than these few nit pickings, I think that this is a great introduction to musicals. It gives a little taste across the spectrum. Try getting the cast recordings of the songs that you really like on this collection. It's worth buying if you're a huge broadway fan.
Yes this is Some of the Best of Broadway!.......2005-04-08
This CD from Decca Broadway is a wonderful selection of some of
the "Greatest Hits" of the Broadway stage. Decca and Sony have
done an excellent job of remastering the various recordings, some
of which still show some of their age, but come across quite
well. Are there a lot of songs that I would have put on this
disc? Yes, but the ones on here are good choices. I may have to
get a copy of the Five disc set and the DVD's just to see if any
more of my favorites made it on the list. What this disc seems to
try to do is show the evolution of the Broadway song from it's
early days to the present. It succeeds quite well I think.
If you enjoy Broadway theater this CD is a must!
The music of Broadway comes alive.......2004-10-07
I loved listening to this CD. The music from Broadway's best loved musicals are on this album. I recogized most of these songs, even though I've only seen a few of them on the local stage. I have so many favorites on this CD. It is hard to pick one. I'm a big fan of Barbara Streisand. I loved her performance of People from Funny Girl. Memory is the hit song from the musical Cats. Betty Buckley's performance of this song is so emotional and sincere.
I loved the song Annie. It is a wonderfully optimistic song performed by the original Annie Andrea McArdle. Another highlight for me is the song One performed by the cast of a Chorus Line. Luck Be A Lady Tonight is another of my favorite broadway songs on this CD from Guys and Dolls. The music of the night is a beautiful song by Michael Crawford from Phantom of the Opera. Richard Kiley has such a strong and powerful voice. He sounds so inspirational singing The Impossible Dream from Man from La Mancha. My dream is to see some musicals on Broadway someday and listen to these songs performed live.
I'm surprised that there isn't any music from Miss Saigon or Jesus Christ Superstar included here. I think they are classic musicals with great songs Maybe they will appear on a future compilation from PBS.

Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30
Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.

This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.
TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23
THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.
Great Collection of Broadways greatest Songs .......2005-06-14
This Collection was perfectly made it has almost all the most famous Broadway songs on this 5 cd set. The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway
Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17
If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

It's one of pop music's most enduring ironies: The caretakers of America's original rock and blues legacy have as often as not hailed from closer to London than to Louisiana. This 16-track collection of recordings by Welsh-born roots-rock acolyte Dave Edmunds deftly underscores the point with ever-upbeat aplomb, spanning four decades and seven record labels (the first such comprehensive anthology of his work) in the bargain. There's a remarkable 32-year gap between this album's opening cover of Rockpile cohort Nick Lowe's "I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock and Roll)" and Edmunds's breakthrough 1970 American hit, "I Hear You Knockin'," but his vibrant performances suggest that not only does the circle remain unbroken, it's scarcely been dented. Crucially, the rockabilly-besotted singer seldom let slavish devotion get in the way of his own considerable creative drive (the exceptions here are a Beach Boys-fetishized cover of "Do You Wanna Dance" and a precious take of the Everlys' "Let It Be Me" from the soundtracks of Porky's Revenge and Stardust, respectively). But his versions of Graham Parker's "Crawling From the Wreckage," John Fogerty's "Almost Saturday Night," and Elvis Costello's "Girls Talk" amply display Edmunds's innate ability to make a song his own. He even rises above the patent, synth-driven production of Jeff Lynne on "Information" and "Slippin' Away," turning them into unlikely rockabilly-meets-new-wave successes. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Great Collection.......2007-05-02
Excellent collection of songs. I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes traditional rock and roll. My only regret is I never saw Dave perform when he was on the tour.
You can do better than this odd lot.......2007-01-12
Dave Edmunds was a fine songwriter and a capable interpreter of rockabilly classics, but this hodgepodge really doesn't do him justice. A single-disc best-of assortment is easy to assemble from The Dave Edmund Anthology (which I recommend), but beyond his excellent original hits (about half of this album), most people will have little interest in listening to lackluster covers, movie tracks, and Christmas music.
Edmunds is very underrated........2006-02-19
This CD is a great single disc overview of Dave's career. I would have liked to have seen more stuff from his Swan Song days, but beggars can't be choosey. It's a great repesentation of the different types of music Dave has done over the 30+ years he's been doing it. And be sure to pick up Nick Lowe's best of as well as the one Roickpile CD if you lke this one. Both of those collections get 4 stars as well.
I like it very much.......2005-03-10
Dave Edmunds has his own, distinct style and it's nice to listen to. My favorite song by him had always been "I hear you knocking", but I found that there is so much more to him, than that one song. His songs are like a hybrid of the 50's and 70's, very unique and very good. I loved his cover of The Everly Brother's "Let it be me". All of the songs on this disc are very well done, Dave Edmunds has a real talent for taking older-sounding songs and giving them a fresh, updated sound. I think he's quite underrated as an artist. I would very much recommened this disc to anyone who loves music, in general.
Gems from one of the greats.......2004-12-28
Looking back, the rock era produced few artists of originality and excellence. Edmunds didn't invent the twangy guitar or rockabilly, but he honed them to perfection. For the most part, he had a knack for choosing quirky and interesting songs. His production was second to none, as was his guitar work. Since he often played all of the instruments, it must be said that he was skilled on all of them. Dave also possessed one of the best rock voices. Despite being Welsh, he sounded quintessentially American while singing quintessentially American music. I recommend this set in addition to the Anthology because the latter doesn't contain Dave's version of Chuck Berry's Run Rudolph Run, my favorite Christmas song, and one that captures the essence of Dave Edmunds as well as any other song he recorded. How unfortunate that Dave has stopped recording; he was one of the best.

Product Description
Incredible rare collection of ALL original recordings featuring Dickey Lee. Beautifully mastered, these original recordings sound better than any other Dickey Lee CD on the market today.
In 1962, Patches became a million seller. One of the "teenage disaster" songs which were popular at the time, it reached the pop top ten. Dickey Lee followed it with I Saw Linda Yesterday the same year and the cryptic Laurie (Strange Things Happen) in 1965. These three records would pave the way for a 40 year career for the soulful country singer.
Dickey Lee had his greatest success as a country artist. His list of top 10 hits include Rocky, 9,999,999 Tears, Never Ending Song of Love and Angel, Roses and Rain. His gift for song writing and performing has endured as Dickey Lee continues to perform and write for other artists.

I love this cd, it is the best!!! I would recommend it highly if your into the 60's era.
this is one of the best CDs.......2006-02-07
this is one of the best Dickey Lee CDs I have heard. this one has most of his big hits. the only one missing is "Red, Green Yellow and Blue" an APCO 45 he had out around 1967/68. all the hits that are here, are the best recordings I have heard on a CD of Dickey Lee. I am most pleased with this CD. Keep up the good work. it is good to see a good recording of Dickey Lee hits.
Dickey Lee: Great 70's country hits!.......2006-02-06
I wish this CD had better availability, as it has great Dickey Lee songs that are virtually lost otherwise. This is the only CD I've found with "Angels, Roses and Rain " on it. That and "9,999,999 Tears to Go" are great memories of 70's country gold that deserve preservation. Some wonderful memories on this CD...I'll probably go ahead and buy it used before it's gone!

Album Description
An equal love for rock 'n' roll and rhythm & blues is what guided The Pretty Things in 1963 when they first formed. Guitarist Dick Taylor, previously a member of Little Boy Blue & The Blue Boys with pals Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, met Phil May at art school and quickly joined forces. They recruited the rest of the original Things over the next year and went on to sign a record deal with Fontana. While U.S. audiences didn't embrace these British invaders, European audiences did. In fact, it was David Bowie who first enlightened America about the Pretty Things phenomenon with covers of both "Rosalyn" and "Don't Bring Me Down" in 1973. Another milestone for the band was 1968's S. F. Sorrow. The first rock opera was a huge influence for Pete Townshend, who went on to create Tommy a year later.
Long overdue, Come See Me: The Very Best Of The Pretty Things is the band's first comprehensive best-of package in the U.S. It focuses on the band's initial decade, starting with a heavily R&B-influenced garage sound, passing through their late-'60s conceptual operetta and into psychedelia and standard classic '70s rock. Its 25 tracks include the hits "Don't Bring Me Down," "Defecting Grey" and "Honey, I Need." The Pretties reunited a few years back to re-record their operetta and continue to record and tour sporadically.
This is The Pretty Things' first comprehensive "Best-of," packed with 25 tracks.
The contemporary garage rock movement, led by The White Stripes, The Vines, The Strokes...has brought renewed interest to The Pretty Things, one of the pioneering groups of the genre.
Sixties garage rock's popularity is evidenced by the strong sales of Rhino's Nuggets boxed sets (which featured The Pretty Things).
The Pretty Things' Parachutes was Rolling Stone magazine's 1970 Album of the Year.
Customer Reviews:
Essential British Invasion rock.......2005-04-29
This amazing collection covers all phases of the Pretty Things' overlooked (in the US) career: from raw R&B to garage to psych to hard rock, it's all here. If you love the Stones, Kinks, Them, and Small Faces and want to explore raw British rock even further, then this collection is essential! Get it now!
The Pretty Things - A Rock 'n' Roll Jewel.......2004-07-24
This band is an important part of rock 'n roll history. Do yourself a favour and go out and buy this (if you don't have PT CD's from sixties already). Then, check out PT masterpiece 'Parachute' - one of the best records ever made (Rolling Stone album of the year 1970).
uglier and more wicked than mick and stones.......2004-06-20
pretty things to me, was always badder than mick and the stones.
mick is pretty compared to phil may and company.
their music started to sound a bit like the stones , at the beginning; but why not? they were both plagiarizing from bo diddley, chuck berry and all the great black rnb premiers.
however, as soon as you reach "come see me" (the title track , track 11) you have to concede the "wicked-est" bass in rock history has to be from this tune. even the mighty "donald" duck dunn's bass would sound "quacky" (lol) compared to this bad-arse mother of all bass sound.
venture further and pretty things abruptedly sounds pretty on track 15,
making you think someone switched albums... barclay james harvest??? colin blunstone with argent???
but no, this is still pretty thing, and really ...
sounding quite pretty... um, pretty impressive. more than ever before, this is really pretty things living up to their monicker.
can a band so wicked and ugly , span the other extreme of the spectrum to sound pretty. well, ""the sun", "death of a socialite",etc... prove that this group is more than just a bunch of "ugly faces" making "ugly noise". hang on tight, mate ... as track 17 "defecting grey" takes you on a magic carpet ride with a little traffic-ky "paper sun" , then the byrds "8 miles high" and you hear everything from the move, who,etc... and awaaaaayyyyy youuuuu goooooo...
this album keeps getting better as you float along with the sonic-evolution of the pretty things. surprise, surprise, ... and even more surprise; it's really quite nice. excellent anthology of a group that should have been credited for their talent alongside who, stones and move.
as always, those who (excuse the pun) came first, never got the credit. this time, pretty things should be something worth listening... 37 years after. it's amazing, when you come to think of it, the members of the garage bands of today were not even fetuses when the tunes on this album first saw light.
More than their greatest hits.......2004-04-29
Come See Me exemplifies the true meaning of a greatest hits package. For the first time as a Pretty Things fan, I am happy to see all their hits on one compilation. WOW! This greatest hits release focuses on the band's initial decade, starting with a heavily R&B-influenced garage sound. Hits such as "Don't Bring Me Down," "Defecting Gray" and "Honey, I Need," define this classic collection. The band who was a major influence on David Bowie shines in this compilation. A must have for any Pretty Things fan!
Absolutely essential British Invasion/garage rock!.......2004-04-28
The Pretty Things never had much impact in the States, but they were huge in the UK. Before getting this CD, I only knew a couple of songs from comps. This set really delivers the goods, though. In their early R&B phase, they outrocked the early Stones. Seriously. As they moved into psychedelia, they stayed away from the dippy sentiments that plagued acts like the Hollies, coming across more like Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd. This CD covers both eras well, and even goes into their '70s hard rock phase, when they recorded for Zeppelin's Swan Song label.
If you're a fan of British Invasion rock or garage rock of any era, you'll love the Pretty Things.

Peculiar Amazon indexing.......2007-06-08
A search for Deep Purple's "Smoke on [in] the water," brought up this title. I rate it only #1 because I could not locate the "Smoke on the Water" listing. Amazon seems to be having an indexing problem.

Hymns in the Anglican Tradition Beautifully Performed.......2007-01-24
This is one more example of hymns in the Anglican Tradition, sung by the always excellent choir of King's College, Cambridge. It is a splendid example of the sonorous sound of men and boys, accompanied by a classic English organ and, for the quieter hymns, the gentle sound of harp. All the familiar hymns and hymn tunes are here. You will not regret adding this CD to your collection.
Very inspiring music.......2005-07-06
I always enjoy listening to this Cd and particularly because of the orchestra and mellifluous choir. I especially enjoy: A Mighty Fortress, Come Down, O Love Divine, Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, and Thine Be The Glory. Some of the selections are soft such as "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "Drop, Drop, Slow Tears." Still, it is a fabulous selection and one of my favorites.
Great English Hymns.......2005-02-10
This was one of my Christmas gifts and I really looked forward to listening to it. I had just visited King's College, Cambridge back in August and really liked it--you should try to make it out there if possible.
Anyway, this CD was great to listen to. Some hymns are scored for orchestral accompaniment, choir and organ, while the majority of tracks are just for choir and organ.
Recorded in the King's College Chapel (the front cover has a great shot of the ceiling's trademark "fan" stone carving), the hymns are pure English sound--boys' treble voices along with men's changed voices singing with a pure, clean, straight tone. It's very sweet-sounding.
The hymns chosen are also great; "Be Thou My Vision," an Irish classic, appears along with "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross," "All People That on Earth Do Dwell," and "Morning Has Broken" (later recorded by Cat Stevens).
The singing isn't especially elaborate--they're just simple hymns. They're orchestrated very well, however, and they sound great.
Religious people may prefer these recordings more in general--these are Christian hymns after all--but I think it's a great recording and is worth listening too, especially if you enjoy that English sound!

Having heard Kings College Choir twice, in the flesh, at Kings, this CD is a wonderful example of what you might hear. If you can't make it to Cambridge, buy this CD. It contains many of the old favorites and also some hymns that are not found on other English hymn CD's.
English Choirs.......2002-12-18
Having visited many Cathedrals throughout the UK and listened to the enchanting voices of the boys choirs, I was disappointed with this particular rendering from Kings. Perhaps I am biased in that I enjoy the organ background or no background but the use of a full blown orchestra, in my opinion, tended to overwhelm and was totally unnecessary and somewhat grandoise choice on the part of Stephen Cleobury. Apart from that, much of the music was excellent. In comparison with other CD's from Kings, this was disappointing.

Most amazing NA flute playing ever heard!.......2006-03-11
This young man played for an outdoor concert to a crowd who endured excessive heat and sun and were mainly just saving their spaces until R. Carlos Nakai came on stage. Nakai was horrible...and instead EVREN ROCKED THE HOUSE!!!
His talent is AMAZING and his music is SUPERB! His fingers nearly flew at warp speed with surgeon's precision as he never missed a note. It was incredible. And after he played, he sold his own CD's, signed them happily and graciously talked to everyone who met him. He is an incredible young man with manners, enthusiasm and TALENT!!!
I highly recommend both of his CDs - As Things Could Be and Images of Winter. If you like NA flute music, you will not find anything beter....until Evren comes out with his next CD!
Evren rocks.......2004-10-29
I've had a chance to hear him playing live before buying his CD's. He is great and my children love his music too. We love both of his CD's. He recorded Images of Winter when he was 7 years old and As Things could be when he was 9 years old. I perticulary like his song Walking with Belle, where he is describing him walking his dog Belle out.
Evren we love you!

A whole new world of Contemporary Native Flute Music.......2003-10-18
When I first listened to this CD I really thought, "Wow, what great ideas! What great flute playing. Nice contemporary sounding album. Some of the best Native Flute playing I've ever heard!" And then when I found out that Evren was only 9 years old when he recorded this album, I was floored. I'm thinking "Just imagine, if he's this good now, how much better can he get?" I'm so glad I got introduced to his music so early in his career, because I'm sure he's got a long one ahead of him. Great album Evren!!!!
