Evil Bitterness [Explicit Lyrics]
Editorial Reviews In 1980, Yarmock left to form the Easter Monkeys with Pere Ubu guitarist Jim Jones, but continued recording with Lupico and Sherman throughout the 80's. These projects produced a backlog of 50 plus songs, 2 of which see the light of day on "Evil Bitterness". During this time, Lupico and Sherman hooked up with Benik, who had been playing with Neptunes Car and Venus Envy, to form California Speedbag, a hardcore honky tonk band that predated the sniveling No Depression movement by many years. After releasing two volumes of prose and poetry, "Reflections Through a Shotglasss" and "Prospect Avenue Mofo", Yarmock turned to the visual arts and began painting (that's his work on the cover of "Evil Bitterness"). When the time came to return to rock and roll, Yarmock sought out the only folks he trusted with strings and skins to help meld his own personal hell with an appropriate soundtrack. Loosely based on the divinity of Jayne Mansfield and all things spooky, the band committed their new vision to tape starting in late 1998. The result is "Evil Bitterness", an 8 song long player featuring the title epic, a 13 minute skronkfest described by Yarmock as "life how I see it".

About the Artist
"Evil Bitterness" is the debut release from Cleveland, Ohio's St. Jayne. St. Jayne is the result of a 20 year musical relationship among Vocalist Chris Yarmock, guitarist Gary Lupico, bassist Russell Sherman Jr. and drummer Jeff Benik. Yarmock, Lupico and Sherman rode out the end of the 70's in the punk outfit Kneecappers, a noisy tumor on the legendary Cleveland punk rock scene inspired by the Rocket From The Tombs/Pere Ubu axis. This criminally underdocumented unit was anthologized in 1997 with the LP "Urban Kill 1978-1980" on Buckwheat Headlock Records of Austin, Texas.
