Album Description

The Killing Moon have all the elements of a chart topping hard rock band, plus much more. It would be a mistake to lump them in with the "emo" genre. Instantly you notice Ryan Hannan's enormous rock voice. The songwriting is exciting and the melodies elaborate. Outside the core instrumentation (guitar, bass, drums), the band incorporates sax and trombone played through effect pedals. The five songs on this debut EP will have to hold you over until a later 2006 full-length.

5 out of 5 stars Take the chance, it's really good stuff.......2006-12-30

My first thought on listening to A Message Through Your Teeth was, "Wow, what a weird effect on the guitar... WAIT, THAT'S A HORN!"

Thought this CD Clocks in at only 20 minutes it is quite a ride. It sounds a bit like My Chemical Romance if you stripped away the high gloss production and added a healthy dose of ska. Though that description doesn't really do them justice. The music is fresh exciting and very well recorded. They are high energy, angry, pounding, melodic and smooth. Give these guys a chance, they won't disappoint.

4 out of 5 stars Screamo-core; Not For Radio.......2006-05-14

The Killing Moon have a long way to go before they become a chart topping hard rock band - they are just too loud and too mean for popular radio. This is screamo-core: provocative rock and roll that draws upon hardcore of the Tuff McGruff variety and upon elements of melodic rock, then escalates the intensity of the melodi-core with winds and horns. Hardcore fans will love this and probably give it a 5! There are moments, however, when Ryan Hannan's screamo-voice indicates his potential for radioable vocals. That said, if you like hardcore, you'll love The Killing Moon. Fans will find these tracks to be creative and catchy. This genre was just too noisy for my ears - and unable to block out the screams, I quickly dissected my Walkman.

Not as good as the second message but still good grassroots hip hop with that distinct Brook-nom sound. Has creative twists, solid imaginative lyrics, and great guitar riffs. Awesome underground stuff along lines of both Blackstar members.
