Is Burlington, Vermont on the Music Map?.......2000-08-05

Zola Turn is an awesome all girl power trio. However, the band doesn't consider themselves as an all girl band. They rather be considered as performers. Well, they ARE performers. I have bought the CD since it was released. and it was excellent. I played the entire CD about 50 times foward and backward. Every song on the disc are well put together. There are no highlights and low lights on the record. Title track, "Taste Like Nothing" and "Bulletproof Vest" has recieved heavy air plays on local radio stations in the Burlington, VT area. Zola Turn's music sounds pretty much like the early L7 or Babes In Toyland with a little bit of the early Liz Phair blended together. The Donnas is not even close compared to Zola Turn. The band really kick a lot of butt on the record and especially in concert. You will not be disappointed.

I have owned this CD since in first came out! Zola Turn has the freshest sound out there. These ladies have a sound all their own. They totally rock! In my opinion, Zola Turn gives the boot to other female rock bands like Hole. The lyrics are catchy and memorable. I am really tired of bands that all sound the same, Zola Turn has wonderful new sound that will not disappoint! BTW.. They won't disappoint in concert either! :)

From the first riff to the last fading strains, this CD kicks! Every track offers a different taste sensation, a tangle of sensuality and pure throw-down raging rock to delight the tastebuds of any true music fan. Highlights include (ehem, every song, really...) the driving beat of the title track and the chunky, dirty chords of my personal fave, "Its Purple and It Sparkles." Ballads emerge golden and shining as well, for those of you who like your chick rock nice and slow, but for those of us who know that girls really do have, um, balls (can I say that here?) there are slamming tunes a-plenty. See Alice, Julia and Rachel live and be doubly blown away by a fantastic stage presence and tight performance(made that much more so since becoming a threesome and dropping some baggage). ZOLA TURN ROCKS THE WORLD!
