Horseslayer

Editorial Reviews
Album Description
"Horseslayer" is the second release from NYC's I, Parasite, and the follow-up to their debut album "Turin." A mixture of new material and remixes, "Horseslayer" pushes boundaries and exposes the range of a diverse and proficient project, from dark electro and industrial dance to softer ambience and neo-classical arrangements. Among the new tracks are the aptly titled "Brutality;" "Knucklebones" (complete with breathtaking baroque-styled prelude and vocals from Android Lust's Shikhee); the upbeat dance track "Skinlike" (which appears here in its correct form for the first time); and the eerie, hypnotic chant of the title track. Remixes by Andoid Lust, Cydonia, Alien Faktor and IP themselves round out the album. More than just a collection of remixes, "Horseslayer" has a sense of progress and completeness about it uncommon even to most albums. Finished by the brilliantly disturbing artwork of paul Komoda, "Horseslayer" is a masterpiece of dark electro.

5 out of 5 stars A Dark Journey that Wumpscut Dare Not Take!!.......2002-08-28

Horseslayer continues the dark industrial journey that began with Turin. Though the album is, overall, not as haunting as Turin was, it is NO less intense!! The haunted element is still there, though, so don't be discouraged! Everything that you've come to love about, and expect from, I Parasite is in Horseslayer. In my opinion, I Parasite takes listeners on a dark journey that even industrial artists like Wumpscut, Hocico, and Suicide Commando dare not take!! With so many artists conforming to standards and expectations in industrial music, it's hard to find a band that has paved its own way with a unique sound ... but I, Parasite is the one!

5 out of 5 stars PUSHING THE ENVELOPE.......2001-11-21

AFTER LISTENING TO I, PARASITE'S GROUNDBREAKING FIRST CD, TURIN, IT WAS HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THEY COULD ADVANCE MUCH FURTHER. HORSESLAYER, A COLLECTION OF NEW MUSIC AND COMPLETE RE-DO'S OF SOME OF THE SONGS ON TURIN, HAS SHATTERED THOSE BELIEFS I ONCE HAD BY PUSHING FURTHER AHEAD INTO AREAS OF MUSIC WHERE NO ONE BEFORE THEM HAD DARED TO VENTURE. THE EVER-MORPHING DRUM TRACKS ALONE ARE WORTH THE PRICE OF THIS ALBUM. I, PARASITE HAS ONCE AGAIN PROVEN TO BE ONE OF THE MOST ORIGIONAL INFLUENCES ON THE ELECTRONIC/ INDUSTRIAL SCENE.

4 out of 5 stars Wickedly Dark.......2001-07-21

Very creative and unique, this cd takes you on a ride into darkness and apocalyptic sound. Mixing doomsday industrial with more upbeat house beats, and topping it off with very disturbing vocals, this band makes for quite the trip.

The thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that doesn't flow like an album. The collection of works seems a little haphazard and unorganized.

But give it a few listens and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST GOTH INDUSTRIES EVER!!!!!!!.......2001-01-28

I,parasite is soooo awesome. Thier music is so dark and hauntingly good. The whole cd from 1 to 10 is a trip through a dark place. My favorites though include HORSESLAYER and NO QUESTION!!!! I love this band a lot and hope that they continue to go on with their cds. They rock!!!!
