Dumbass On A Rampage [Explicit Lyrics]
Editorial Reviews Blending the sounds of traditional country music with the plain ugly raw punk rock, the Barnyard Playboys are a unique band with a unique sound and mission (see below). Singer-songwriter John Lyons combines the influences of country greats like George Jones, Buck Owens, and Johnny Cash with his own rock n roll background to deliver a long repertoire of hillbilly truck-driving songs reeking of road-stop fervor. Joining Lyons are bassist/surfer dude Adam Freeman and drummer/oddball Joe Baxley who contribute their unique skills to create a life totally devoid of the so called "comforts" of "modern society." Whether bivouacked in New York City, or stinking up their 1988 Dodge Ram Van on the interstates outside of your town, The Barnyard Playboys have hammered out a sound that, like a Big Gulp of chicken gizzards, keeps 'em coming back for more. On DUMBASS ON A RAMPAGE, the Playboys produce 18 works of vitriolic storytelling from the perspective of someone who "used to be a hard working cooperative all American man." Whether down in the vomit and bile wearing a "Cowboy Shirt" or greeting the next day with "Mr. Coffee", Lyons confronts his day to day misery so unflinchingly that it's life affirming. Working class anthems like "Truckdriver Joe" and "Breaker 1-9" intermingle with libatious party anthems like "Keep The Honky Tonks Open" and "Blue Denim Diapers" to give a full, well-rounded perspective of this renaissance man. The Barnyard Playboys give a live performance that has earned an almost cult-like following among the local New York City alternative music scene. Though in New York for latter half of the 90s, their musical history dates back to the 1980s in Eugene, Oregon, where the members collided after separate lives in Michigan, Alabama, and Los Angeles. Out of pure desperation, they fled east to New York, where to this day, they continue to hold down the Rock-N-Roll Alamo. Let's go over the rules- Barnyard Playboy Rules: 1.) Establishment of the greatest Band on Earth In a world crammed to the gills with pathetic imitations and constipated rhetoric, The BARNYARD PLAYBOYS, like the cheese, stand alone. Join us, wont you? Band members: John Lyons-Guitar, Vocals
About the Artist
Since their alcohol fueled conception in January of 1996, The Barnyard Playboys have released their own self-titled CD and toured the entire nation extensively, without ever missing a single show (excluding Las Cruces, New Mexico). But the mayhem is turning up a notch with the release of DUMBASS ON A RAMPAGE on Rubric Records.
2.) World domination through rock-n-roll
3.) Cold Beer!
Adam Freeman-Bass
Joe Baxley-Drums
Album Description
Songs of drunkenness, incompetence and despair dominate this classic sophomore release from the Barnyard Playboys, Dumbass On A Rampage. Rubric is proud to present one of New York City's finest bands. The Barnyard Playboys are an honest blend of country and punk rock. These guys aren't fakers--they are pushing 40 and 2/3 has roots in the early 80's Oregon punk rock scene. The Playboys plan to be touring constantly and have already toured the nation. The songs are a perfect soundtrack to a night of putting the hammer down, be it at a bar or in your apartment. But don't think for a minute this is some tuneless punk band--they may be out of tune, but they've got the tunes. There lurks a great songwriter in vocalist/guitarist John Lyons underneath the booze and grime, in the tradition of Jones, Williams and Cash.
