About the Artist
Throughout his development as a songwriter, Amiel's room has boomed and bounced to the sounds of XTC, Stereolab, the Beatles, Os Mutantes and Nick Drake. His songs have always been the substance of a search for beautiful, complex music that comes across as simple and effortless.
Album Description
Departing from the more straight-ahead sound of his self-titled debut album, Amiel's newest work, ACCIDENTS BY DESIGN, does more to draw the listener in with its rich textures and unexpected instrumentation. It ranges stylistically from 1960's sunshine pop to bossa-nova, around electronic soundscapes, behind chamber folk and into an orgy of building psychotic freak-out spasms. Despite this wide variety, Amiel sticks it all together with a unified feel. - By Mark Devers
