I am continually blown away by this woman and her work. Big Broad is as powerful as it is brilliant, with Julianna taking us through different personas and situations with ease. Married In Mid-Air has one of the most profound lines in it: "some things they'll never know about each other are in that bed." This CD explores life and existance in a playful, even joyful, way. All girls: you will get this. All boys: I hope you can get this.

Wow. This woman has an incredible way to look at the world around her. The stories on Big Broad are like nothing I have ever heard before--smart, witty, and unusually bold and subtle at the same time.

I bought this for my younger sister who is having questions about who she might be, like she likes girls, but doesn't know what it means to come out and be gay. And she doesn't know what it means to come out and be straight, either. Somehow, Juliana Luecking shows that there are a million ways to be whoever you are--and that being on the fringe of this culture is a great place to be!

An excellent window into a world of diversity and wonder........1999-05-05

Sit back, turn out the lights, and listen to Luecking's glorious voice take you to places you've really never been before. Tracks like "Married in Mid-Air" tackle the complexities of commitment between two women, "28 and 82" is a beautiful interlude within the world of a young woman and her grandmother, "Come to Phoenix" has a comical edge to the "woman as healer" image, and the title track is a catchy song embodying the strength, breadth, vitality, and glory of women.

All of the tracks are accompanied by an impeccable sound score composed and designed by Steve Elson. These sound installations create the raw, steamy, exciting, intimate, and raucous environments in which Luecking inhabits effortlessly. A must for anybody interested in expanding their understanding of the depths to which humanity can aspire.
