Editorial Reviews Aside from performing and recording their original music, they also perform covers at local clubs and compose commercial soundtracks. Velvet Rut composed the music for the Local Emmy Award winning documentary, ‘‘Tell Me Something I Don’t Know", for Watt Imagination!. This DVD is nationally distributed to every college in the United States to help prevent alcohol related hazing deaths. They have also composed soundtracks for promotional videos for Yamaha™ and local businesses. Their latest achievement is the soundtrack of an independent film, "Alice in Wasteland", which includes tracks from the new album, "AUDIOSIS". Velvet Rut spent their first two years together practicing in a basement to sharpen their original sound. Since then, they have been performing at festivals and various clubs throughout the Rocky Mountain region. This has enabled Velvet Rut to independently release their debut album, "AUDIOSIS". It is a compilation of songs that touch on the quirks of daily life. The album is in current rotation at college radio stations throughout the world.
About the Artist
Velvet Rut was formed in 2001, based in Colorado Springs. Their music is an ensemble of guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, cornet and vocals inspired by rock, jazz, brit-rock and imagination. Craig Haughton and Jack Kennedy have been performing together since 1997, and in 2001 they met Michael Kimbrell. All multitalented men, they mix and match instruments, creating the unique sound that is Velvet Rut.
