Better than the UK Version.......2006-08-30
All tracks are classics in their own way a must have for any diehard New order fan as the track listing differs from the UK version. Gone are the tracks found on Substance and in come the opening tracks from new orders first 3 albums + Lets Go(Nothing for me) a barnstormer of a track which I believe is only available on here or on the Retro box set. All in all a fine add on to your collection.
7 Years and Going Strong.......2006-06-11
That's how long it's been since I've discovered New Order and, consequently, it's also how long they've been my favorite band. I am reviewing this album a second time because I forgot the e-mail and password I had for my other account (brilliant move, I know). With that said, this sweet, resplendent compilation was the second CD I purchased by the group, following Substance. While I love both collections with about the same intensity now, I have to admit that I liked New Order's "Best Of" much more at the start. While Substance is an awesome album of singles that is a nessecity for any true fan of the band, "The Best Of New Order" is more accessible to new fans as well as to those who may be only casual listeners. The songs are short, but sweet: an excellent fusion of rock, pop and techno. It's difficult to choose the standouts, because doing so would mean having to name at least 3/4's of the tracks on this CD.
However, I have to make mention of both "True Faith" and "Bizarre Love Triangle," because these are the two pop gems that hooked me into the band. Hearing Bernard Sumner's smoothe vocals singing "I used to think that the day would never come I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun" on the radio (yes, there used to be a station in the Bay Area that played this song on a regular basis!) used to give me a serious emotional high. The same with "Bizarre Love Triangle's" catchy chorus, "Every time I see you falling I get down on my knees and pray." While these two tracks I'm sure have been worn out by long time fans (as they have by me), they are the perfect tunes for attracting new listeners who love a danceable synth-pop sound. I only wish that the former track hadn't been cut down to about 4 and a half minutes (the original is close to 6 minutes long). For some reason I really like the editing in BLT '95, though, and I even like the remixing.
Other standouts include "1963", which sounds softer than the original and opens with a nice accoustic riff, the insanely catchy "Touched By the Hand Of God," and the incredibly underrated opener, "Let's Go (Nothing For Me)." I had heard that last track on a radio station as well and I had no idea who sang it until I found New Order via True Faith and BLT. As I stated in my earlier review, I believe this compilation compliments, rather than replaces Substance very nicely. True, it's missing some great singles (Perfect Kiss, Temptation, Subculture) but it also has some classics that Substance missed (Age Of Consent, Dreams Never End, Love Vigilantes). So, I would have to highly recommend getting both. Acquire and enjoy!
Very Innovative.......2006-01-05
I'm a college student, and I find that current pop music doesn't do it for me. In fact, most of my friends listen to music that dates from the 1960s to the early 90s. I love this CD, New Order is very easy to listen to and enjoy. You can even hear the foundations of modern day house music within some of the tracks. The melancholy tone of the lead singer is definitive of a lot of the pop in the 80s, yet he does not bore you. Although I do admit, you can tell that all the tracks have somewhat of a general way of being constructed; so I recommend listening to the 30 second snippets that Amazon provides to decided if you really want to buy it. However, if you want a CD that is somewhat definitive of 80s Brit Pop, and made a huge impact on the Pop scene, I would definitely recommend buying this. It's a great compilation of the music by New Order.
the best?.......2005-12-02
not good, not also bad, I just like half of the tracks, while skip the other half
awesome.......2005-09-28
this has quickly elevated itself to one of my favorite cd's to listen to, every track selected is really great and I rarely skip over any of them. This truly is "the best of" new order, and one of the best group compilations i've ever purchased. Definetly a worth while record.

DVD no more.......2005-12-08
I just got my copy from Amazon.com after having it in my wishlist for the longest while. Guess I should have checked more carefully because between the time I added the New Order: International CD to the wishlist vs when I ordered it, they no longer include the DVD - just the CD. And the DVD was the main reason I wanted this. So I'm feeling ripped off especailly when most of the comments on why people bought this was for the bonus DVD.
Must add to collection.......2005-09-11
If you are a fan of New Order than this is one to purchase. I bought this for the extended version of Bizarre Love Triangle and it is great.
Been there, done that, why bother.......2005-02-15
Seriously folks, This is the best ever??? Substance is the best "best of" album to get from New Order. The music from Technique on has been so-so and this collection is nothing more than a rehash of their 12"s at best.
Here is what you should do... get Substance and The Best Of New Order. This way you get the best of both old school and their newer stuff. Plus you get a couple of extra songs that deserve the recognition. Only buy this album if you have the extra cash to piss away.
Buy this for the remastering effort!!!.......2004-06-15
The earlier tracks here have never sounded this good. Remember 1986, when you ran out and bought Low-life and Brotherhood on CD? And you raved about how this new medium was INVENTED for THIS band? Then you shoved your old vinyl copies in a closet?
Well, here we are in 2004 (actual release 10/2002) and it appears they are finally getting around to remastering some of the tracks, probably due to Rhino's involvement. The sound on "Substance" just doesn't cut it anymore. I can't say this is worth full price, even with the bonus DVD. And the inclusion of three tracks from the recent "Get Ready" is unjustified. But the sound quality is SPECTACULAR. The clarity of Hook's bass lines has never been captured so well. The new transfers demonstrate very clean low- and sub-bass which can't be found elsewhere.
Hunt for this one in the bargain bins until the full catalog gets the remastering it deserves.
Bonus DVD!!!.......2003-10-25
Ok...this cd was ok, but nothing new. The main reason I bought it was for the dvd which is worth it 100%. I love the music videos for"true faith" and "perfect kiss". Blue monday is live from 5/11. I am not sure what year that is supposed to be, but I assume it was pretty recent since they look much older. "Blue monday-live from 5/11" is not my favorite on the 3 song dvd, but it is still really good. I would have prefered the music video for blue monday, but oh well...perhaps they will release some kind of video colection and I will buy it. If you are a new fan, I highly recommend "substance 1987" instead of this. That has most of these songs on it except for the last 4 or so. I would recommend this however for someone who is buying a new order release for the first time because it is all there hits, and you get a pretty good visual with the dvd. Substance is somewhat pricy especially for someone who is not even sure about this band. However stay away from the cd entitled "best of" until you have heard either this or substance. It is really good, but the track list is almost entirely different, and it isn't a great starter album. It is great for a secondary purchase though after you have bought "substance" or this one "international". But overall it is good as far as track selection goes, and as far as the dvd goes, it is a great companion to go with it. I can't complain.

Album Description
The AB CD.
Every once in a while there comes along a truly unique idea in children's entertainment, and the AB CD happens to fall into that category. The brainchild of Phil Yeend, a recording engineer/producer who has worked with the likes of Elvis Presley, John Williams, Clint Eastwood and Pete Fountain, the AB CD is a compilation of traditional nursery rhymes sung in alphabetical order by a group of young children. Now 27 nursery rhymes sung by children doesn't sound like such an original idea until you add new and unusual interpretations and some of the best session players in the industry backing. up the singers. Yeend managed to put together an impressive roster of string, horn and rhythm musicians, under the direction of composer Mauro Bruno, that adds a wonderful depth to the familiar lyrics.
None of the young singers, also known as AnyBody's Clubhouse Kids, had any previous professional experience, a bonus when you consider how reminiscent their sweet voices are of childhood days. They truly could be anybody's kids -- a plus for the preschoolers for whom the CD is intended -- it could be their friends singing, and it's easy for them to join in and sing along.
Beginning with the familiar Alphabet Song and ending with the lively and original Zig Zag, the AB CD has unique renditions of many nursery favorites, including It's Raining, It's Pouring, Little Bo-Peep, and Rock-A-Bye, Baby, as well as some not-so-familiar tunes like Elsie Marley and North Wind.
An inspiring collection, the AB CD has already won an Award of Excellence from the Film Advisory Board.
