The Icelandic iconoclast is a past master of deconstructing her studio recordings, and here she plays an active role in helping a crew of remixers and guest artistes get medieval with tracks off 1995's Post. Trip-hop, jungle, and industrial flavors will draw the Tricky crowd, and Brodsky Quartet puts a string-driven spin on "Hyperballad," but it's the lush Deodata treatment of "Isobel" that'll make your head spin. --Jeff Bateman --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

4 out of 5 stars Bjork: TELEGRAM (1996).......2006-09-20

In 1996, Bjork released her third album entitled, TELEGRAM. This album is a remix album, featuring most of the songs that were featured on her second album, POST. But the songs from her 1995 album that are on TELEGRAM are remixed. Though not as good as her first two albums, this is an extremely creative remix album.

POSSIBLE MAYBE (Lucy Mix)
Original version from the album POST (1995). Great remix.

HYPER-BALLAD (Brodsky Quartet Version)
Original version from the album POST (1995). The album/single version was incredible and amazing, but this string-band quartet version is just plain awful.

ENJOY (Further Over The Edge Mix)
Original version from the album POST (1995). Great remix.

MY SPINE
New song. This song should have been released as a single, especially for its sound and quality. Bjork could have made a great video for this one.

I MISS YOU (Dobie Rub Part One-Sunshine Mix)
Original version from the album POST (1995). Great remix.

ISOBEL (Deodato Mix)
Original version from the album POST (1995). Great remix.

YOU'VE BEEN FLIRTING AGAIN (Flirting Is A Promise Mix)
Original version from the album POST (1995). Great remix.

COVER ME (Dillinja Mix)
Original version from the album POST (1995). Another great remix.

ARMY OF ME (Masseymix)
Original version from the album POST (1995). This remix could have been a lot better, which is why I prefer the album version of this song, over this remix.

HEADPHONES (0 Mix)
Original version from the album POST (1995). This remix is a lot better than the album version of this song.

I MISS YOU
From the album POST (1995). Great song. Why Bjork included the album version of this song here is beyond me, but this is still a great song.

This remix album is another successful masterpiece by the Iceland Queen. This is a great buy for all Bjork fans.

5 out of 5 stars Elegantly crafted remixes .......2006-07-26

of Bjork's eccentric music. Very powerful sounds yet a very modest approach. A definate must own for any fan of her work. Variety of musical genres presented here from a classical approach with the brodsky quartet to dark thumping techno-like pieces as well as traditional tracks. Bjork is a musician into and of her own style.

2 out of 5 stars From ho-hum to irritating.......2006-01-04

Like some other disappointed reviewers, I'm a long time Bjork fan (since the Sugarcubes) but have a hard time listening to this album. The remixes vary in style from sparse ambient to frenetic dance. This in itself is irritating because it means the album has no flow or cohesion. But it's the remixes themselves that drive me nuts. Overworked and trying too hard to 'do something different' with perfectly good songs, they just end up mangling them for the most part. I think you'd have to be a fan of remixes, rather than a fan of Bjork's, to enjoy this album. The only redeeming feature is the inclusion of some songs not available on other albums, such as 'My Spine'. I'd advise you to listen to all the samples before making this purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Unexplained On Your Collar.......2005-07-02

Telegram is basically a beautiful compillation of the best mixes (and one b-side) from nearly all of the 'Post' singles.

The album revisits all of the songs off of 'Post' (except for 'It's Oh So Quiet' and 'The Modern Things') and completely revamps them.

1. Possibly Maybe [Lucy Mix] 4/5
This is a very odd version of possibly maybe with complete new vocals. It sounds almost mechanical, but it's deffinitely Björk doing what she does best!

2. Hyper-Ballad [Brodski Quartert Version] 5/5
This is the Brodski Quartert performance with bjork of Hyper-Ballad. The song has so much energy from the strings, and Björk gives one of her best performances with the quartet that I have ever heard.

3. Enjoy [Further Over The Edge Mix] 4/5
This is the most bizarre track on the entire disc. Its an electronic buzzing mind trip like none other. The music is all buzzing beats with sampled Björk vocals. Very awesome track.

4. My Spine 5/5
It takes you through glass windchimes and a sensual tune brought by Björk. A delacate & pretty song, it is a dust devil of pretty beats and chimes.

5. I Miss You [Dobie's Rub Part One - Sunshine Mix] 2/5
In my opinion, the worst track on the disc. It's basically the 'Post' version, except slowed down and put to hip-hop. Not very good.

6. Isobel [Deodato Mix] 5/5
This is the true highlight of the whole album. The song Isobel has here been put with a contemporary jazz beat and really awesome instrumentals that just take the already wonderful song to the next level.

7. You've Been Flirting Again [Flirt Is A Promise Mix] 5/5
Very simple and pretty. The beginning entices you and the beautiful string arrangements keep you wanting more. Different vocals than on 'Post,' but quite an improvement, in my opinion.

8. Cover Me [Dillinja Mix] 3/5
a six minute repetitious sample song. It gets kinda old after the first 2 minutes.

9. Army Of Me [Massey Mix] 4/5
Another bizarre electrick buzz trip. It sorta takes on a hip-hop beat throughout, but in a tasteful way by masking it with other fascinating sounds.

10. Headphones [Mika Vaionio Remix] 5/5
I love this song. It is basically an instrumental tribute of the song. It preserves the best bits of the 'Post' version, while managing to make a completely new sounding song. Björk's vocals are just beautiful in it.

Even though the song is 6 min+ in length, it does not get old.

11. I Miss You 5/5
This is the 'Post' album version of the song. cool, edgy and an awesome music video to go along with it. I don't really understand why this track was included, but I can only assume that it's to apologize for the bad hip-hop version in track 5 of the disc ;).

Overall, this album (or EP, whatever) is deffinitely worth adding to your Björk collection. the different versions of Björk's 'Post' Songs are really worth hearing.

5 out of 5 stars Cheerful, Open and Frank.......2003-01-30

Libby Roderick's voice is low, open and friendly. The minute you put her in your stereo, you feel as though she's singing just to you - a bright, sunny voice annunciating with perfect clarity.

Her songs come across as those of a woman on a mission. No vague lyrics here! Each uplifting song says what it means and means what it says. The liberal-minded themes include women's struggles, women's power, an end to racism, and people's right to be homosexual. All of the songs are delivered with optimism and cheer - far from militant. Very cheerful.

My favorite songs, though, are the spiritual ones. GRANDFATHER SUN is an absolutely inspiring prayer for every man and woman to find spiritual contentment in their times of pain. You'll sing along with it, you'll feel it, you'll believe it. It's a great song.

IF YOU SEE A DREAM is my favorite of Libby Roderick's albums, though she's made a number of close runners-up. This cheering, optimistic CD is probably the one of hers I reach for the most often.

5 out of 5 stars Libby Creates a Standard for Love.......2002-08-10

This CD contains Libby's signatuire song "How Could Anyone", used in workshops and therapy sessions worldwide. For this song alone, it is a CD to be heard. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet Libby and get acquainted with her music, then go on to her other CDs and watch her mature, but never deviate from her values. Beautiful voice, wonderful songwriter.

5 out of 5 stars Touches the soul........2001-11-14

Many people are introduced to Libby through the song "How Could Anyone" - and it remains a favorite. It reaches through layers of masks and pain and touches a part of you that laid unnoticed for far, far too long.

Libby is a songwriter beyond compare.

5 out of 5 stars beautiuflly written.......2001-01-29

This is the best music I have heard in a long time. I think that every man and woman should listen to this music. What she says is true. It goes into your heart and souol and explains how things should be.

5 out of 5 stars Laugh, cry, sing, dance.......1999-08-22

I first heard Libby in concert several years and ago and this CD remains one of my perpetual favorites. "How Could Anyone Ever Tell You... " has become my anthem, and a sacred chant in my life. And "Cradle of Dawn" has become the signature for my long term correspondence with a friend on the other side of the planet. Each cut has it's glory.... pure magic!

4 out of 5 stars Warm up for Behind The Music.......2003-05-22

Take 5 is a primer for Behind The Music. The rousing Dow Jones Syndrome and witty No Brainer (with a bold reference to The Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows (the version on the Anthology CD)and two others could have easily graced Behind The Music. The melodies, dynamic arrangements and vocal harmonies both refer to previous decades and bands (most notably The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks and 70's power pop like Badfinger)but also look ahead to the distinctive sound that emerged on the band's third full length CD.

The last track Play Station Bordello sounds like a Eno on steriods. It could almost be a lost track from Eno's Another Green World (and clearly that was the inspiration). While it isn't the best track on the album, it's an apt closing pulling the band out of the 70's and into the new century.

I'd love to see the band's numerous EP's, b-sides and bonus tracks compiled onto a single disc. In the meantime, I'll have to make do with the CDR I made of this classic album, the Bonus Future EP CD and odds and ends released by the band over the last year. I wish that Universal would get a clue and finally release this stuff in the United States.

            4 out of 5 stars Take Four.......2002-08-25

This is awesome. This is where they get great.Lots of guitar.Could've been perfect but the last song seems like filler(not bad filler, just not as good as the rest). I'm not complaining,am I?

5 out of 5 stars outstanding, totally outstanding.......2001-06-21

It's one week now that i've had the chance to listen to this totally amazing record. All the tracks are totally outrageous and feels so genuin. The lyrics could feel sort of complicated the first time you hear them but the more you listen to them, the more they grow.

You gotta have this almbum 'cause it is a genius piece of modern art that will become more and more uncommon in this conmercelized age.
