About the Artist
Michael Braudy is an experienced violinist in Western and Indian music, and a versatile improviser, who collaborates with poets and storytellers, theatre, dance and mime. He has performed regularly in concert halls in the United States and India, including concerts in 2000 and 2002 at the Calcutta School of Music and the American Center in Calcutta, at the invitation of the U.S. Consulate. In both, he played Western classical music, Indian ragas and Celtic music in the same concert. In 2004, he performed at the Jaipur International Festival with singer Chloe Goodchild. He has performed Indian and Celtic music at Sufi Books in New York City four times between 2000 and 2005. He is a regular collaborator with storyteller Diane Wolkstein, with whom he has performed in New York and on tour. Michael’s discography includes three CDs devoted to Indian ragas for health: Awakening Peace, Vriddhi and Sumanas, and Celtic Afternoon, a live concert. His violin teachers included Raphael Bronstein and Dorothy Delay in Western violin, and in Indian music, Acharya Roop Verma, Pandit V.G. Jog, and Debaprasad and Sulaya Banerjee.
