All Destructive Urges Seem So Perfect

Editorial Reviews

The band lowercase falls somewhere between the revolutionary melodic skree of Unwound and the noise damage of godheadSilo. This full-length debut runs the gamut from ragged wash of furious gray squelch and feedback to hypnotic, trancelike ruminations. It's an extremely well realized debut effort filled with brooding, tense, vaguely melodic vocals and dark, damaged music. --Adem Tepedelen

3 out of 5 stars shows its immaturity.......2006-02-28

Admittedly, not a bad album, but in the way of songwriting, this album is noticably less mature than their full length "Going Away Present." This is a record that showcases their ability to build tension without hitting the distortion pedal, but they seem to hit it a few times for the sake of it anyway. "Going Away" shows their mastery mounting tension without the cliches apparent in this album. Also, the production on this album is a bit...um...well, not good. Again, in this aspect, "Going Away" is the better choice.

imagine if the kindly indian guy at 7-11 started listening to UNWOUND a lot, gradually became filled w/ angst, and then one day freaked out, quit his job, and became an indie rocker. you would have lowercase.
