After taking five leisurely years to follow up on 1996's Pinkerton, Weezer are apparently on a roll. Arriving just over 12 months after The Green Album, Maladroit finds the Los Angeles power-pop band in the midst of a particularly fertile creative period. "Dope Nose," which is easily stronger than anything on the last album, flexes a sinister shout-along chorus and vintage Van Halen riffs, while the potent garage-punk blast of "Fall Together" wipes out any lingering discomfort over the thoroughly Sugar Ray-sounding "Island in the Sun." In a sense The Green Album was just a taster for this, the blissfully thunderous main dish. Sure, there are some deadpan emo moments ("Death and Destruction") littering the course, but mostly Maladroit is Weezer doing what they do best--inverting and embracing dumb rock stereotypes and somehow making them sound smart. --Aidin Vaziri

All the hype around Weezer always seems to be surrounding their debut album and green album. Any fan with the slightest liking of that band will find this album to be essential, with it's onslaught of rocking guitar and heavy but melodic music, it'l definately be a winnner. If you've enjoyed listening to weezer throughout any of their progression as a band, this is a must as a purchase.

Weezer's fourth studio album entitled "Maladroit" was released on May 14, 2002, only one year after its predecessor. There was no shortage of material for the album as the band had dozens of different versions of over thirty different songs circulating on the Internet prior to the release. After an experimental approach in the recording process, the band settled on 13 tracks displaying a harder-edged version of the pop-influenced formula that has made them famous. Though the band had an abundant amount of material to choose from, the quality of "Maladroit" falls short of potential. Below, please find the rating for each song individually:

Look for the Blue album, Green album or their most recent album first before you start getting into their less popular material. This album is still great for any fan, but make sure you get some of their other albums first.

this is the second best Weezer album. It just overtook the "Blue Album" to become the second best. "Pinkerton" is the best, although Rivers once said in an interview that he thought Pinkerton was the worst album they did. Wow, he is so wrong.

Weezer is a guilty pleasure of mine; I have four of their albums in my audio collection and I listen to their tunes on ocasion, but when people ask me what I listen to, I will tell them Nirvana or something else. I avoid talking about Weezer because they are a bunch of geeks and the people who listen to Weezer are a bunh of geeks to.

I do not think of myself as a geek, a dork, a nerd, or someboy who needs to be thrown in a locker for being a social outcast. But I will say, "Maladroit" is a pretty damn catchy piece of pop rock.

I love "Pinkerton" (and the second disc "Dusty Gems and Raw Nuggets" which was released with the delux version of the Blue Album) and "Maladoit" has a distinctly different feel than other Weezer material. Perhaps that is why I like this album.

If every album sounded like "Pinkerton" or the Blue Album, we might grow tired of Weezer in a hurry- especially we who are NOT nerds.

"Maladroit" is a very smooth and heavy album. Buy it for a low price and listen to it when you've heard "Pinkerton" over a hundred times. And don't tell anybody I like Weezer...

Weezer is a great band. Backed by the intelligent Rivers Coumo this band has made another great record. The new harder rock is a nice twist to these new songs. This isn't there best work but anything from Weezer is satisfying. Track 7 (Burndt Jamb) is very much like Island in the Sun which should be noticed on the radio very soon. Dope Nose is a classic Weezer style song. The new Bass player brings a nice sound to this record. Anyone who has ever like Weezer will not know the difference in the new style of music. This a great investment for any music lover. I rated this a 4 because its still not up to par with the 1st 2 cds.

          I had only heard a few weezer songs before hand so I liked them and bought the album and it is so cool I love the guitar work on every track especially track 4 the solo rocks, weezer fan or you want something a bit different then buy the album.
