Go and Give the Guard a Break

Editorial Reviews
The Washington Post, March 18, 2005
"'Go and Give the Guard a Break' is far more intriguing than your average batch of tunesmith musings."

Hampshire Review, April 13, 2005
"Emmylou [Harris] could easily show up as guest vocalist on Hayes’ next studio release -- it is of that caliber."

Album Description
With its layers of carillon-toned guitars, textured keyboards and earthy vocals, "Go and Give the Guard a Break" embroiders Meghan Hayes's troubadour roots with rock, alternative pop and Arlington twang.

4 out of 5 stars Keeps Getting Better..........2005-03-30

No sophomore slump here. Meghan has crafted 11 great new songs which are catchy, melodic and uplifting. The music is enjoyable and easy to listen to casually but if you want to immerse yourself in this album, and I recommend that you do, you will find it has a satisfying depth to it as well. Categorizing this music isn't easy. Folk? Country? Rock? Yes. Most of all its fun. Fun music that makes you think. Hmmm. Not a lot of that going around these days.
