If you like good heavy melodic futurepop, Assemblage 23, 'Empires Era' VNV, Covenant, new Imperative Reaction, etc., then you will without a doubt enjoy this album. Not one of the songs here is a 'filler' track, though they are certainly floor fillers. They aren't super bouncy 145bpm tracks like Colony 5 or Apoptygma Berzerk's hits either. The melodic structure in these songs is truly... beautiful.

This album is full of great melody, a signature sound (for once), and the singer has a great clean style (I typically do not enjoy futurepop or clean vocals in general. I'm very picky about clean vocalists - they MUST be good). The lyrics themselves are OK, but it's really how he delivers them is what makes them succeed.

The music has a unique sound to it and not many futurepop bands can honestly claim this... only VNV Nation, Covenant, Gasr, and new X-Marks the Pedwalk come to mind. The samples and scales most futurepop groups put forth for their synthlines, basslines, and especially drums/snares is usually so similar I sometimes can't tell the difference between groups if it wasn't for the vocalist!

The State of the Union is Kinda EBM, kinda other stuff, defitnly industrial. Just not 100% great. Find something GREAT. Then when you have all the great stuff, come get this beucase it is only good.

    This compilation does not contain titles of real hit movies. It contains mostly sentimental or comic songs from old movies and even from the ones I managed to recognise only a handful were original. It struck me hard to find "Enae Volare" from "Les Visiteurs", the only title I ordered this compilation for, terribly altered but that might concern me alone. Finding "What a Feeling" from "Flashdance" similarly altered made me wonder... later, on the back of the box, I found a small note saying, as I could decrypt from French, that the songs in the album were not necessary original. I should've been warned about this in advance!
