5 out of 5 stars Excellent live and FREE show.......2006-10-26

I just noticed that the commenter below me is my friend that attended the show with me. Coheed blew everyone away by playing a free show that afternoon before the regular show that you had to pay to get into. Wish I had the official copy of the album, it was one of their best shows that I've seen.

5 out of 5 stars You should own this.......2006-02-06

So after their show with AFI was cancelled, my friend and I actually attended this free concert in austin during SXSW. The talkbox solo is out of control. There is nothing wrong with claudio's vocals at all. Some people just don't understand that a live performance isn't the same as a studio recording. He isn;t going to sing anything too high, but as i said this is amazing musicianship

5 out of 5 stars excellent.......2005-09-18

This live EP is in no way sub-par. The recording quality is pretty good, the musicianship is still flawless, claudio's singing is just as good as ever, and the talk-boxes used on Everything Evil's "Prog Wankery" is worth the purchase alone. 10/10

1 out of 5 stars Not their best - rather embarassing actually.......2005-08-03

Ok, first off let me say I LOVE Coheed, they are absolutely incredible. I saw them play live 3 times last month and was thrilled when I saw this album... but then I listened to it. Claudio's usually stellar vocals are absolutely horrendous here! It also sounds like they're rushing through every song, like some thrash band gone horribly wrong. I don't know if they just had a really bad night when they recorded this or if they have improved dramatically since this recording, because the shows I went to sounded a bazillion times better. Do NOT judge their live shows by this recording, because they are capable of so much more.

I think its in everyone's best interest if we just pretend this album never happened.

5 out of 5 stars Great Little Live EP.......2005-08-03

Coheed and Cambria is an excellent band in the prog-rock genre. This EP show's Coheed's excellent live side. I am a huge Coheed fan and follower, so I know my Coheed.

It's true that Claudio messes up the vocals on a couple of songs, but that's part of the Coheed experience. He also rips on the guitar, playing stuff you've probably never heard unless you've seen them live before, with a 7-minute prog-rock out during the middle of Everything Evil (something not to miss!).

Track Listing:
1. Intro
2. Devil in Jersey City
3. Delirium Trigger
4. The Crowing
5. Blood Red Summer
6. Everything Evil

So if you love Coheed, get this CD, it's definetly worth it.

4 out of 5 stars Rough and ready.......2007-01-16

No, this is not the glossy, radio-friendly Elastica you know from the first record. Instead, you get Mark E. Smith doing his trademark "Northern white cr@p that talks back" amphetamine howl all over How He Wrote Elastica Man and KB (hmm, what if Justine had replaced Brix in the Fall?). These two tracks alone make this EP worthwhile for Fall fans. Incidentally, MES makes some funny comments about working with Elastica here:pennybroadhurst.c*m/mesinterview.htm

The other standout is Operate, a raw and energetic track. This is what Elastica sounds like with all the polish and artifice stripped away: noisy and intense.

Beyond HHWEM, KB, and Operate, the rest of the EP is taken up by demos. They are interesting if you are a completist or are a fan of the second album. Otherwise, they're not essential.

4 out of 5 stars not their best, but a good preview for "The Menace".......2000-08-03

I was so overjoyed to get this CD as a gift! Finally, a little something to tide us over in the 5 year + period we Elastica fans have had to wait for a new album. I won't tell you this is a must-have, actually I don't listen to this anymore now that I have the import of "The Menace." This is a good album, Elastica still rocks, get it if you're a collector, otherwise buy "The Menace" cause its the album you're looking for to follow up the stellar debut.

2 out of 5 stars a disappointment.......2000-07-20

as a big fan of the band's first Lp, I have been waiting a long time for their second, so I eagerly purchased this EP when I saw that it was available, only to be sorely disappointed. There is not a single song on this EP that touches even the weakest on their debut. The songs seem half-developed, the best (ironically) being the demo that is the second track. The Fall's Mark E. Smith performs guest vocals on two tracks, both of which boast decent riffs but little else. Sadly, based on this EP, I have no intention of buying the new LP.

3 out of 5 stars The later US rerelease, not the original UK.......2005-06-15

When (like many British electronic bands) the Orb's stuff was first released in the US, the labels just assumed Americans wouldn't be able to handle it, so often times singles and albums were altered (indeed, Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld was only available in that horrid one-disc version in the US for about 4 years). So instead of getting the original Little Fluffy Clouds single (which was made up of the Orb's remixes of the track) available in the UK, the US got this one. Here's a breakdown:

1 Little Fluffy Clouds (Dance Mix MK 1 Edit) (3:59)
2 Little Fluffy Clouds (Inner Master Mix) (3:58)
Remix - Coldcut
3 Little Fluffy Clouds (Cumulo Nimbus Mix) (6:10)
Remix - Pal Joey
4 Little Fluffy Clouds (Dance MK 2) (8:25)
Remix - Thrash
5 Little Fluffy Clouds (Heavyweight Dub) (6:30)
Remix - Coldcut
6 Outlands (Fountain Of Elisha Mix) (8:00)
Remix - Thomas Fehlmann
Track 1 is the album version, minus a sample or two. Tracks 2 and 5 were remixes by Coldcut, who were big in the US after having remixed "Paid In Full", and yeah, did sorta start the idea of remixers radically altering originals (before then, remixes really did just alter the mix of tracks, maybe add some overdubs or something, but did little to the core of the song), but here, not much is added, and the results do sound pretty dated. Track 4 is mainly an extended version of the original. Tracks 3 and 6 both appeared on the Aubrey Ultraworld Excursions remix album, and are pleasant enough remixes. Should you get this? If you're a collector or have always wondered what a meeting of Coldcut and the Orb would be like, then yes. Otherwise, try and get the original UK single (which has 4 tracks) and the Aubrey mixes album.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Namnambulu is one of a kind..........2005-11-08

The 'Expansion' album by Namnambulu is one album that I cannot say enough about. The exotic sound cuts into me with a sense of emotionalism and energy. The lyrics are facinating dealing with feelings and thoughts. Pop tarts looking to shake their Jenny Craig challenged rumps to moronic crude words and over repititious beats may not want this in their collection. Namnambulu is unique, a Swiss duo who sing in English, and yet they almost have an Eastern sound to them. Check this album out, it's as good as 'Distances', if not better.

3 out of 5 stars Catchy Tunes but Grows Tiresome Rather Quickly.......2005-09-16

Nearly any futurepop aficionado will recognize NamNamBulu as the Swiss band discovered by VNV Nation's Ronan Harris on one of his jaunts through the Continent. Merely being linked with such legends generated great positive hype for NNB. Well for the most part that hype is unwarranted.

While the duo have little trouble writing melodic tracks that pump, they have serious issues with making it work for more than 10 minutes at a time. As the more negative reviewer accurately suggests, this grows monotonous very rapidly. The vocals are standard Euro-synth with that smooth, deep tone that ends up sounding stilted and snobby as opposed to passionate; it works sometimes but grates on you before long. The music is a bit to straight-out-of-the-can as well lacking creative spark. I'll admit that "Faces" and "Game" are very strong singles with harmonious lyrical flow and make me want to hit the dancefloor, however it's difficult to leave the disc on much longer. The collaboration with the excellent electro industrial group [:SITD:] is interesting on its own, but its harshness is an extremely odd placement alongside the other songs - really a fish out of water.

Generally speaking NNB are an overrated band whose sound doesn't stick with you well enough to work as powerful pop and isn't daring enough to work as art. I pop it in for 2-3 tracks from time to time for dancefloor, singalong fun and it works on that level. Still ultimately this is an artistic failure.

2 out of 5 stars Monotonous.......2005-08-09

Both the singer and the keyboardist lack imagination. One song blends into the next and into the next. Slight variations in pace, and pitch do little to add interest past the second track. It's the same disease that afflicted Evil's Toy.

5 out of 5 stars Another victory for this swiss duo.......2005-02-24

After first hearing about namnambulu and listening to "Distances" I was hooked on their sound.I have not heard a song I have not liked yet.EXPANSION is another one of those. It is only a ep so being only 6 tracks and a few remixes making it 11 total.Faces is a good song strong in melody and vocals.Game is another great song as is forgiving which is a duet with sitd. The remixes are very dancey and club worthy.Namnambulu is futurepop at its best,If you love vnv nation, assemblage 23 or apoptygma berserk this ep should be part of your collection.
