Don't get this single, get the slow Burn single, which includes both "Shadow Man" and "When The Boys Come Marching Home", but also "Wood Jackson" and "You've Got a Habit Of Leaving."
Basicly, this single just doesn't make sense when there is a better one out there.

3 out of 5 stars For The Biggest Fans Only.......2004-06-18

So the bottom line is that "Everyone Says Hi" is the same cut (unchanged) from the `Heathen' album - it's an okay song and he has sung it in concert. "Safe" is a great song even if it is a little MOR and commercial. "Wood Jackson" is Bowie at his strangest, but that's what you would expect. I can't say that this is a great `single' CD other than if you are a HUGE fan you may want it.

3 out of 5 stars Missing From Heathen.......2003-12-17

I really purchased this single just to hear "Safe" as "Everyone Says Hi" is on the album, and "Wood Jackson" is on another single I already have. But, I'll tell you about all three anyways.
1. Everyone Says Hi. This is the same song that's on the album. It's nice and gentle, and fun. No big surprises here.
2. This song is somewhat a legend. It was originally written under the title of (Safe In This) Sky Life for the 1998 Rugrats Movie. Bowie wrote the song with Reeves Gabrels (whom he collaborated on 1999's "hours..." with) and after making a first recording, Bowie thought it could benefit a run through with Tony Visconti, Bowie's producer for some of the best albums he ever released (The Berlin Trilogy and "Scary Monsters"). They hadn't worked together since 1981's Baal, so, this is the song that got them back together. Unfortunately, the scene in the Rugrats movie which was to feature this song was cut, and the song never got out. But in 2002, we got a new version on this single, and Bowie and Visconti got back to working together, for some really great stuff.
What do I think of the song itself? Eh, not bad, but I see why it is not on the album, it doesn't fit the feel.
3. "Wood Jackson" This song is a bit creepy, about a singer songwriter whose music is scored and thenbrings about the destruction of his listeners. It's pretty good stuff, and has made appearances on quite a few singles, apparently it was close to making the album. Don't worry, the song isn't about Bowie himself, there's a pretty neat history to the song, which you can look up if you are interested.

So all in all, it's more interesting to have because of the significance of "Safe" than the music itself, but it's not bad.

3 out of 5 stars C'mon record company!?!.......2003-06-23

I find this rude when a record company wants to charge 12.99 for three songs (in the age of cd burning; or any age for that matter). The customer needs more value - especially when they have often already purchased the full length release.

Bowie is awesome, his work on Heathen incredible...the intrinsic value of this disc is not.

I don't care if it's an import. I need at least five or six songs (or versions of songs) to justify 13 bucks!
