5 out of 5 stars just buy the damn thing.......2007-05-26

look - it may have been created years ago but its so good that it really doesnt matter- check youtube or whatever to get a feel of it and you will see its a must for your collection... just get the damn thing- i could spout my titles and longevity and credentials but who cares- buy it for like 15 bucks and thank me later

5 out of 5 stars Incredible!.......2003-10-25

Babyland's You Suck Crap is terrifying its so damn good! Its a monster ride of samples, smashing, screaming, banging metal, great programming and more screaming from start to finish, a complete urban assault on your senses.

There really is no bad song on the entire disc, if you are interested in Babyland then make sure to check "You Suck Crap" out first as it is by far their best release.

As a DJ there are really only two tracks worth playing for your dance floor, "Mask" and a Madonna cover of "Burning Up". However on a personal level this CD is just incredible.

As both a music fan and a DJ I HIGHLY recommend you pick this CD up and if you EVER get the chance to see these guys live, DO IT! Babyland has one of the best industrial live shows you will ever see. If you like Babyland you should also check out SMP as they are just as good and have a similar sound (enough difference to appreciate though).

5 out of 5 stars Electric Jesus.......2003-07-21

After having the privilege of seeing Babyland live, I have but one question... Who else could make something this amazing with an Apple II and an array of steel barrels? The music is very well written, the lyrics are easy to relate to and incredibly creative, and, well, it was all done with an Apple II and some barrels!!

5 out of 5 stars All that needs to be said.......2003-02-15

There is only one band I know of that sounds anything like Babyland. That band would be Babyland themselves. This is true experimental music. I'm using the term "music" because it's not random noises, but actual music with feeling, emotion and passion. If you're up for something new, exciting and provocative, you can find it in their albums.

This release is their first, and everyone I've played it for was shocked. Self-described (quite well) as Electronic Junk Punk....

5 out of 5 stars Amazingly accomplished first album.......2002-03-07

Thundering percussion, stampedeing beats, video game-like keyboards, clever samples and compassionate, insightful lyrics screamed at the top of the lungs. The first Babyland album takes on mortality, evolution, urban chaos, social conditioning as well as a Madonna cover, a haunting H.P.Lovecraft tribute, and an a capella Different Strokes title song cover, all hurled at you at breakneck speed. Despite the raging, [mad] and pummeling music, this never comes of as cheesy or aggro for it's own sake. This 1990 release was years ahead of it's time (the whole Digital Hardcore thing didn't start until a few years later), and 12 years later, it still hasn't lost any of it's impact.

5 out of 5 stars review#1733522893847517493020330402030103320985738745666.......2001-07-28

Plainly put, some of the best electronic work from the early years of a band that is still going strong. Their first full length album really shows how they manage to get the most out of the basics and a little more. Tons of high energy songs coupled with interesting lyrics. Go figure. I could go on, but I wont, just buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Electronic punk rock!.......1999-07-01

This album was way ahead of its time. Done probably in someones basement on a mac computer, they use samples from circular saws, phones, screaming babies, beating trashcans with big sticks... all sorts of bizzare stuff. Mix it up with a very aggrressive lyrics that will make you think. Its electronic punk rock. These guys will remind you of minor threat or fugazi, but with an ugly feedback noise. Songs like "logan's run" will have you screaming along with as you play it a top volume. "were not machines, Life and Death Reality, No Guarantee, There ain't no spare parts, Fleshy Beasts, Once chance, One brain, one heart!"

Yea there lyrics are painfully true, they hit home about the silliness of our urban condition. The album is all in all a work of genius, in its lyrics and in its song structure. You will also grow to love its down-home lo-fi feel. after this is punk right? not some big coporate shlock being shoved down your throat. At the very least get it to enjoy their very serious cover of Maddonna's "Burning up" a true classic!
