Paul Wall is just an average rapper out of Texas. Sure he can rap circles around lyrical weaklings like Mike Jones but stand him up against rappers with skill like Bun B and he doesnt stand a chance. He is truly overrated. The main flaw of this album is him. Paul Wall get repetitive very quickly and a thorough listen will further prove that fact. His first single Sittin Sideways wasnt that bad and They Dont Know was also a decent single. Freeway joins Paul Wall on State To State which is the best song on the album. Bun B and B.G. do a fairly good job in Trill and T.I. was the highlight of Ridin. Then it starts to get monotonous. Songs like March, Smooth Operator, People's Champ and King Of The Hill are all good production wise but Paul Wall brings them down with his predictable flow. Slabflippin and Sip-N-Get High are Paul Wall at his unmerciful worst. How many ways can I diss Internet Goin Nuts let me count the ways. 1. The beat sounds like something out of a horror flick 2. Paul Wall's verses range from hilariously bad to pitiful 3. Using a phrase from a song to make a hook. How original 4. Who wants to hear a song about cybersex anyway?Freak!) Bottom Line: This is easily the worst album of 2005. Repetitive rhymes over decent beats plus the same old sippin lean/candy paint talk that you hear from every other rapper from the south. I agree with that reviewer that said that just because you are from the underground doesnt mean you suck. But Paul Wall doesnt suck because he is from the underground,Paul Wall sucks because he is too mundane! HE RAPS THE SAME ON EVERY TRACK and how long will you listen to somebody who raps the same on every song? Not for long. And that song Oh Girl is the worst song for the ladies since..... Sheek Louch's One Name! One last note: Paul Wall calls himself The People's Champ and The People is southern slang for the police. So what does that say about him? Think About It.

A lot of people hate Paul Wall. I used to be one of these people, so I honestly can see where you're coming from, and I won't even condemn you for disrespecting this album without having heard it. If you want to ramble on about something you have no knowledge of, then by all means, be my guest. It only shows your ignorance, and again, I say this coming from personal experience as someone who once bashed Wall.

Like it or not, Paul Wall is not a flash-in-the-pan rapper. He's going to be here awhile, so you may as well get used to seeing his ugly mug plastered all over your television screen. I initially despised Wall simply because I thought he was yet another talentless rapper who only got his big break due to his connections. At the same time, I judged him with a prejudice due to the fact that most white emcees are fabricated, and I'd only heard a guest appearance from him on Mike Jones' hit single, "Still Tippin'." It took awhile for me to really accept Paul Wall; but once I did so, I was immediately hooked on this album.

The song that made me an instant Paul Wall fan was "Sittin' Sidewayz," which sports one of the phattest beats I've heard in my decade-plus of listening to hip-hop. The most appropriate explanation of the beat found on that track is simply hypnotic, and entrancing. Paul Wall laced the dope production with some clever wordplay, and though he will never be a deep lyricist, he is an above-average punchline emcee with an addictive flow. Big Pokey definitely didn't hurt things with his guest verse, either.

The rest of the CD isn't quite as powerful musically as "Sittin' Sidewayz," but it is littered with jewels. "Internet Goin' Nutz" is great in its quirkiness, "Girl" is a nice track dedicated to his wife, Crystal(who has since become the "First Lady of Swishahouse"), "Drive Slow" is the awesome Kanye West produced track, also found on Kanye's Late Registration, "Sip-N-Get High" is a standout track dedicated to the purple drank, and "They Don't Know" is another standout with a guest verse from Underground King, Bun B.

This was definitely one of the best hip-hop releases of 2005, and Paul Wall is often bombared with unwarranted criticism. Oh well, though - with success comes envy, and that's no more clear than with Paul Wall. Paul Wall's taken the wheel of the Southern hip-hop mobile, and as his music implies, it's going to be one long, slow, and syrup-influenced ride; you should enjoy it while it lasts.

And we're a better country for it. This young man shows a lot of character in his struggle with his mental handicap and darned if he didn't make a "good" album in the process. One cannot judge this work by normal standards as Paul Wall is obviously not "normal" rather one must look past the oftimes nonsensical lyrics and flacid beats and simply encourage this brave young 'tard for having the gumption to record at all. You go guy! I've heard his new single is going to be called "Badonkadonk at the Petting Zoo" and is his tribute to those lovable animals that bring so much joy to our children, mentally challenged and otherwise. Though his mind is tiny, his heart is as big as all the outdoors!

Most of the songs you hear from Dottie Peoples are rather upbeat or in a way traditional. This CD has two wonderful songs on it that show her full range of talent and the writers wonderful detail for touching lyrics. Listen to Compassion and More than Enough and you'll understand.

Great Album.......2002-01-14

Dottie Peoples has produced an outstanding piece of work on this album "Testify". The music is soft and beautiful, the lyrics are very inspirational. I really enjoy "Thank You" a very moving selection, as you hear and experience how gifted this singer is, her voice is vibrant and strong. "Testify" is another up lifting and moving selection. This entire album is a wonderful piece of work. I enjoy it very much.

Romance for The Over-The-Hill or "Lonely Tonight" Crowd.......2005-03-16

This one will put you to sleep quicker than a glass of warm milk--certainly not something to be characterized as "romantic". Nonetheless, it is a very soothing collection of classical works that will not interfere with your conversation/thought process/sweet dreams.

Take note of the discrepancy between Amazon's listing of 15 tracks vs. the detailed listing of 14 tracks with composer/performer credits. My CD has only 14 tracks and the detailed listing offered by Amazon seems to be correct.

One of my Favorites.......2000-09-20

The quality of the performance and recording is excellent. I find this to be true of Deutsche Grammophon CDs in general.

On this CD, the piano (soft) passages are really soft, and I find the CD isn't really suitable for the car. But it's terrific at home.

Maria João Pires playing the Larghetto from Chopin's 2nd Concerto is incredible. It's a very moving piece of music. (BTW, I recommend her double CD from Deutsche Grammophon, "Chopin: The Nocturnes")

My favorite Classic cd.......1999-04-06

I love this CD. It is great for relaxing in the bathtub, curing insomnia, and getting into a romantic mood. I had the tape for a few years and wore it out. (Another recommendation for a similar effect is the Cocteau Twins "Milk & Kisses")

After such a fine debut with "The Platform" it was always going to be very difficult to reproduces. Let me just say they got very near to it but just came up a little short in my opinion. Some of the solo tracks (which is a blueprint for all 4 of their albums) didnt really hit as hard as the group efforts. Tracks like "Proper Propaganda", "Panic" and "War" were just very average joints from an above average crew. The interludes from Phil da Agony and Defari seem completely unnecessary aswell. The key moments for this album were the single "Worst Comes To Worst" (1 of Alchemist's best beats ever with Dilated), "Live On Stage" (the perfect intro to any album/show), "Clockwork" (DJ Premier produced soundbomb), "Trade Money" (funky beat by Da Beatminerz) and the Liks featured "Heavy Rotation" (brilliant). With strong lyrics on every track and other solid tracks like "Self Defense", "Hard Hitters", "Pay Attention" and "Expansion Team Theme" we're given an very strong addition to the ever impressive Dilated collection.

Most artists or groups suffer the notorious sophmore flop. (1st Lp off the hook, second not even close) However, I felt like they've improved off their first release. Beatwise this is one of the most head-noddin albums they've dropped. Production was flawless. Lyrics seem to have improved as well. Go cop this and support quality hip hop music. A++

Does it really matter what label you place or whatever label they place on their music? It's tight and lyrically fit music, and their DJ is one of the dopest DJ's ever, so what does it really matter if they are "true" underground? They still keep it real and represent people in general and hip hop and life lessons. Their beats are instant classics and are well produced. They are not raw emcees or raw beats, but they are not really commercial. Rakaa and Iriscience throw down some dope, laid back lyricals, and Babu spins the tightest, freshest beats...this is hip hop in a very crystalized form. True Hip hop heads will dig this....check it out

I won't lye to anybody that hasn't heard good music Before? Or will I? This record it takes a few listens to get used to and become comftorable with it. If you've never fealt a energy beneath your skin that's livin in a parcalith. It's got a lot of sparaticness but once it becomes familiar you want to forget and listen like you've never heard it before. MF Doom is bumpin behind locked doors.Food "Mm..Food?" I never have listened to any artist before and always been able to feel like it was new besides Deltron 3030 and my fav Doc Oc. It reminds me of hanging out in the school yard back when I was eating free school lunches and hangin out with my freinds that sprayed tags. It's the kind of recored that made me want to tell them to tag SOULFOOD besides Dr Octo and Deltron 3030 it's the chillest album I've ever heard. So if you have some time and you wan't to learn what artistry is all about in a album listen to this sit back and listen it will leave you feelin like MF Doom is really livin. I feel like it was a good record all in all. He has the greatest of skills of throwing soundbits and beats behind a story that never gets old and in this album it really shows. I hope that he stays around there isn't a lot of good artists nowadays in this world of grills and wheels he's just spittin true and livin it like a madman in a madman's world. GET THIS ALBUM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dilated Peoples - Expansion Team.......2005-11-14

This is the second album i've heard from DP. I was shocked to find out that I liked this album the most.

Dilated Peoples got unique styles, a lot of flavor and great lyrics. The production on this album is GREAT. I found no weak beats, some bangers and all ones you can chill too and bump. Some of the beats that stand out to me were "Trade Money", "Heavy Rotation", Hard Hitters", "Defari Interlude".

If you like REAL hip-hop and you havent picked up this album then your missing out. So make sure to pick it up!!

(3+half) 20/20...brings DILATED back into focus!!.......2007-01-25

After the slightly disjointed (in my opinion) album "Neighbourhood Watch" I was urging these underground heroes to come correct.I see signs of that on this album that has convinced me they're on their way back to their best. The obvious tracks such as "Back Again", "You Can't Hide, You Can't Run", "Kindness For Weakness", "The Eyes Have It" and "20/20" reaffirmed my belief in their skills. However weak-ish tracks like "Firepower" and "The One And Only" take away from the overall quality. The big surprise for me was Evidence's delivery over alot of the tracks. His usual laidback flow sound's almost lazy. The beats on "Olde English" and "Rapid Transit" arent your usual Dilated tracks, they're really dark and sinister with Defari and Krondon appearing on them respectively. Then with the other solid tracks "Alarm Clock Music", "Another Sound Mission" and "Satellite Radio" we definitely get an improved album from the Peoples. Tight flows and beats for the most part. Straight laced hiphop all the way, you couldnt ask for any more. Maybe abit more energy from Evidence (which we'll hopefully see on his solo album "The Weatherman" later this year) but other than that, you'll enjoy this.

DEFINITIVE L.A. RAP.......2006-12-17

Ignore any haters, this Dilated release is just as good as all the rest, truly DEFINITIVE L.A. RAP .... I don't need to spend much time spelling-out the assets of Dilated Peoples, anyone reading this should know by now how truly talented this multi-ethnic (just like Los Angeles itself) rap group is, pretty much blowing away ALL competition in my eyes. They're the perfect balance of Old-School intelligence meets New School production-delivery. Very VERY highly recommended, as all of their cds are, a must-have release really, again, as all the rest are...get a taste of L.A. and check this out, trust me, you won't be disappointed!!! A steal at this price, BUY IT and nod your head, holmes.

Give credit where credit is due.......2006-07-25

You cannot really judge a group like Dialated Peoples, they have their own style and own flavor which a few have tried to copy and have failed. Their style is of a sort of mainstream/yet laid back underground hip hop flow powered by the all-mighty DJ Babu. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing on this album that hasn't been heard before. Straight front to back tight lyrics and tight delivery backed by Babu's awesome pounding beats and their forray of guests. Don't expect a group like DP to try something new and go out on a limb or push the envelope on creativity, thats not what they do. They craft tight hip hop that stays within the confines of hip hop. And in the confines of hip hop, 20/20 is a very well put together album. The stand out track is obviously "Kindess for Weakness" featuring Talib Kwali, but the rest of the album is not to be sat on. I am not the biggest Dialated Peoples fan, but I will eat up a DP album because their lyrical delivery and production is always tight.

THIS ALBUM FROM 1 TO 13 BANG MAN EVERY TRACK IS FLUID IN ITS OWN WAY AND MAKING THE ALBUM REAL COHESIEVE NAHMEAN I THINK THIS WAS A LIL BETTER THAN THE LAST JOINT "NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH" YOU HAVE ALLOT OF THE USUAL SUSPECTS ON THE BOARDS AND WHICH ENSURES A PURE-DILATED ALBUM NAHMEAN. FROM BABU TO ALCHEMIST RIP THE PRODUCTIONS SIDES OF THINGS. EVEN EVIDENCE & RAKKA RIP EVERY TRACK THEY'RE ON INCLUDING THE GUESTS THEY GOT SUCH AS TALIB KWELI, KRONDON (STRONG ARM STEADY), DEFARI AND REGAEE ARTIST CAPLETON ALL ENHANCE THE TRACK THEY'RE ONE.

Not As Bad As Bad As What Most People Are Saying (4 stars).......2006-06-14

I admit, Dilated Peoples Album 20/20, has its strong points and its weak points. No I don't have any other DP albums, so I can't really say if they are getting better or worse lyrically, but I've been hearing them on compilation albums such as Lyricist Lounge II, and Soundbombing II and finally decided to give them a try.

There are some strong points on this album. The lead single "Back Again" and "You Can't Hide, You Can't Run" and "The One And Only" come off nice with the samples on the track, along with DJ Babu cutting and scratching, that kind of reminds me of hip hop back in the early 90's, because you don't hear many DJs doing things like that on albums very much. Rakaa Iriscience really comes off hard on most of the tracks such as "Firepower (The Tables Have To Turn)", a reggae type of track saying "If we say we're 'Pro War'/ only fight for peace/ man that means it's no war/ think the price of life is cheap?/ but we're saying no more..."

There are some weak points also in this album. First, Evidence comes off medicore behind the mic, on tracks such as "Another Sound Mission" or even on the good song "Back Again" where he says "It's a new year, ok, I got sh.. to confess/ like I don't smoke no weed no more, but ain't smoking no less..." There is some weak production also. Most of the production is kept within Dilated Peoples fam, including Alchemest. Despite the lyrically great song "Kindness For Weakness" featuring Talib Kweli, its flooded with medicore production from Evidence. "The Eyes Have It" I'm just not feeling as it comes off weak sounding. Defari Herut makes a somewhat decent appearance in the song "Old English" Also the skits between songs are pretty pointless as they're about weed, which I don't mind, but it gets annoying.

20/20 is not as bad as everyone is saying. There are some ups and some downs to it, and it's an album that deserves to be given a spin or two. Don't believe these Amazon reviewers or magazine reviews that gave it a one or a two stars, because its not all weak. Cop the album and listen for yourself.

I love Dottie Peoples singing and her music every time I hear the music I know that it is Sister Dottie Peoples. I sing in my church choir and we sing Sister Peoples songs and I lead some of them. God Can God Will, everywhere I tell people how good Jesus is to me. All Dottie Peoples songs are good and there a message in everyone of the songs she sings. Dottie keep on singing, your singing is not in vain. You will get your just reward afterwhile.

I just love the voice of Dottie. She fills my heart with joy. I'm in the choir at my church and we sing Dottie's,songs. Everytime i hear Dottie music, i have to pause whatever i'm during and join in. So,Dottie keep up the good work, you will be rewarded for the job you do.I have to let my little light shine wherever i go, because I'm not ashame of the love I have for Jesus. I lift him everywhere I go.There's no doubt that i don't have a closet religion.

Dottie Peoples is a very spiritual young woman whose voice and choice of lyrics will make you want to drop everything and praise the lord for what he is to you. She was my mother's favorite singer and before my mother's death, she got "Her House in Order." Mother left a tape at home for me to hear and it was "Testify" by Ms. Peoples. And yes, I should testify. Go Girl!

Yet again Dottie Peoples has made a mark in the gospel world I was there at the live recording in Memphis and when Edna Tatum came to the stage I thought she was going to talk forever but never did I know that she would deliver such an inspirational message and then when the Live In Memphis dvd came out I found myself playing that video over and over again, though I do watch the other videos but this Narrative was amazing she had the whole church on their feet and so did Dottie Peoples with the song "He Said It" and "Never Alone"

A Shouting Good-Time .......2005-07-27

I was at the live recording and was concerned that the incredible roof-raising and soul stirring atmosphere would not fully be captured on the cd. My concerns were totally unfounded. This cd is traditional gospel at its best. Dottie Peoples certainly personifies the title as "Songbird of the South" and her collaboration with Rev. Frank Ray Sr. on "Old Landmark" will launch you into a shouting good time.

Must Have For Edna Tatum Fans.......2005-07-21

Even though this is Dottie Peoples cd, I have found myself playing Edna Tatum's narration to "Never Alone" Over and over again. If you enjoy Dottie Peoples then you should get this cd. However, if you want the full affect, then get the dvd

Dynamic Sounds of Praises Coming From Memphis.......2005-06-17

This work of art is one of the BEST that I've heard from Dottie Peoples. I had the pleasure of attending the live recording at my church (New Salem Missionary Baptist Church). They rocked the house from beginning to end. There's not a song on this CD that doesn't keep me moving. The guest artists were just AWSOME! (Rev. Gerald Thompson, Angela Spivey, Shea Norman and More.) And my pastor Rev. Frank E. Ray, Sr. who had the house on its feet while singing the "Old Landmark". WAY TO GO!!!!!! Dottie way to go and please come back to Memphis and New Salem for Round 2.
