Album Description
"This is one of the most brutal CDs I've heard in a long time. Sickness has been around for about 10 years and I never really took notice until I got a copy of "Reconstruct the Caos #2" from a trade I did with Kenny Sanderson of Facialmess (also on "Reconstruct the Caos #2'). I was driving along in the desert near Palm Springs when track number 8 came on and blew me away. I scrambled for the liner notes to see who it was....I was surprised to see it was by Sickness. At the time, I was looking for other Series III artists that were not from Japan for potential release on Ground Fault. I knew that I had to put out a CD by Sickness if he could come up with more tracks like this one. Chis has done that and more. The sounds on this CD tear through your speaker cones and then drill into you brain. These sounds are constantly moving, panning, jumping and changing at a rapid pace. There is very little "down time" for the duration of the hour long CD. If you thought the ! Government Alpha CD on Ground Fault was harsh, just wait til you hear "I Have Become the Disease that Made Me". Fans of harsh noise will not be disapointed." Erik HoffmanCustomer Reviews:
Loud and ugly and painful and lovely........2004-03-30
Another release from Chris and another release from Ground Fault, both of whom one can reasonably expect to turn out decent material with every release. If you're aware of SICKNESS' previous material, you've got a good idea of what to expect here; high-pitched tones that sound like straining, cracking metal, pulled out and twisted like taffy, with good low- and medium-end chaotic backing. SICKNESS is above all loud, loud, and loud, and this stuff is intended to hurt you. Preferably badly.
All that said, this may be the quietest material SICKNESS has released to date. Not that it's quiet all around, mind you, but every once in a while things stop for a bit, with maybe a repeated heart-monitor style blip in the middle or a crackling noise (think paper burning close to your ear) to let you know the assault isn't quite over yet. These pieces go one for ten seconds or more, completely alien to the earlier stuff of his I've heard. This one's going to beat you about the head and neck region, but not quite so constantly as, say, Government Alpha's similarly wonderful Sporadic Spectra release.
As a side note, there is what seems to be a NON influence in here; at times, floating quietly through, it sounds almost as if some NON was used as source here. Fans of both acts will have a fun time playing spot-the-sample (if any truly exist here).
It's loud. It's ugly. It will make your head hurt. What more do you need to know? Buy it. *** ½
