Blame It On The Whiskey

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
The Cheatin' Wives know that the best country songs are the drinking and cheatin' songs - have been - always will be. They specialize in playing heartbreaking odes to the kind of misery only the inebriated could possibly endure.

It's a universal lament, because so many of us have lived through this world of hell. It's a world of bad decisions and quality hangovers. Its a world of warm beer and cold, cold women. In this world it doesn't matter who broke what vow first - there always seems to be more than enough guilt, shame, and whiskey to go around. In this world The Cheatin' Wives are the kind of band you would find on the jukebox.

Welcome to the world of the Cheatin' Wives.

L. Todd & the other Wives do the rockers-discover-outlaw-country thing a little differently than most of the folks who are doing it after the death of Cash. There's a lot of style and not much substance out there. Puttin' on a hat don't make you an outlaw. This is jeans-and-workshirt on a Saturday night with the foreboding of Sunday morning everpresent. The songs are low-key and personal, like the diary of a man doing some hard reflecting, beginning with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a copy of Waylon's Honky Tonk Heroes and ending with a bottle of Cuervo and a copy of George Jones' I Am What I Am.
