Album Description

16 solo tracks recorded at London Wizard Studios in L ondon in late 1969 & early 1970 by the drummer for English psych/prog rock act the Pink Fairies. All recordings were re mixed & remastered at Westwood Studios in Los Angeles in 1999. Twink wrote all of the music, all of the lyrics & produced every tune as well. 1999 release. Standard jewel case housed in a paper slipcase.

I give it 3 1/2 stars.Nicely assembled Italian import of the Pink Fairie's drummer Twink's long-lost cutting-room-floor material that was recorded maybe just prior to his 'Think Pink' classic(see my review of that disc)and nearly as good.Total of sixteen tracks.Some of the cuts here that did it for me were the acoustic "You Reached For The Skies","Moondog","Psychedelic Electrician(Scene One)"-nice moog work and "Witches Brew".Keep in mind that this CD is a bit different than the previously mentioned 'Think Pink' reissue.I would still recommended it to any fans of Pink Fairies,Electric Banana,Tomorrow or just late '60's psych in general.A nice find.

What does a stoned hippie social deviant hanging ou in a basement do? make a experimental album of course.Everything but the bass is done by Twink. Who gain fame with the band Tomorrow then join the Pretty Things for the masterpiece S.F. SORROW then left and wrote Think Pink with the pink fairies motor cycle club my fav 60's album it a strange trip indeed around this same time he play drums on Mick Farren's(Deviants lead singer) solo ablum. When I saw this I almost cried he's is truly one weird cat. The album consist of lots of moog playing like psyhcedelic electrician scene 1,2,,3,4 plus guitar drums piece's like Ice Cool it has very nice guitar from Twink who is really a drummer and of course british fairytale psych Unexpexted Party from J.R.R. Tolkein.Only one real song You Reach For The Stars it's very simple acoustic but nice feel.Moondog kicks the third eye King Tin Tagel seems likes it's lifted from a movie not sure which one. Get it while it's still out there. If you dig these and other psychedelic/pop/art-rock/blues/jazz/avant-garde/krautrock/ from 1965-1972 ...END

Superb Pink Fairies CD to have,one of those two-on-one releases.First segment is a five song/45-minute one off reunion gig that the Fairies played with the original line-up in 1975.The sound mix on "City Kids","Waiting For The Man","Lucille","Uncle Harry's Last Freakout" and "Going Down" simply couldn't be better.The next six tunes labeled as 'Previously Unreleased' is so-so,with the best track being "Waiting For The Lightning To Strike"(would make a good Alice Cooper tune).The disc closes out with a three song EP titled 'Twink And The Fairies',circa 1977 I believe and it's a bit funky.It's Pink Fairies drummer Twink carrying on with his own project.Highly recommended.

Imagine your childhood stuffed toy collection magically coming to life one night and holding a rave party in the enchanted forest on acid.

Twink has taken all those scratchy 45's you had as a kid from the bottom of your toy box and put together a CD of house/trance/lullaby/crazy stuff.(At least for grownups)The endless repetition in some of the tracks will make little children Twink groupies in no time. Buy it for your favorite niece or nephew and especially to drive their parents screaming up a wall.

Twink (not to be confused with the "Think Pink" band of the same name) got its name from the tinkly sound of the toy piano, the instrument that apparently inspired this album. The toy piano in fact plays a central role in this album, although there are plenty of other toy instruments, with the occasional appearance of more traditional instruments -- guitars and drums, but also cello and flute. And of course studio techniques. The effect is not just arch kitsch, as one might expect from looking at the picture booklet. Nor is it merely a sales gimmick. A variety of musical styles make cameo appearances, and the music displays a variety of moods. Though always playful, Mike Langlie gives every impression of taking the challenge of this album seriously.

    This Album was in its time totally ground breaking. Even now it still sounds pretty ground breaking. Read the other reviews for the details of the album - but don't under estimate the input from Steve Peregrin Took to this album's uniqueness. Took was still with Tyrannosaurus Rex when he recorded this with Twink and when Bolan found out he was furious and this was a contributing factor to the sacking of Took by Bolan and Da Management. Took was sacked before the US tour but contractually obliged to go ahead with it. Little wonder then that he chose to go to the Think Pink end of recording party at the Speakeasy and overslept the following morning when he was supposed to be flying to the US! So do a search for 'Steve Took'. You'll find 'Lone Star' which is his work with Larry Wallis in Shagrat. The 'Missing link to Tyrannosaurus Rex' reissued as 'Crazy Diamond' which are spacey, stoned home recorded sessions with various Pinks and (a very high probability) Syd Barrett (Took recorded with Syd in 1968 and remained friends with him long after Syd had gone into seclusion) and a new release "Blow It!!!" which is Steve Took at his electric finest with his band `Steve Took's Horns'.

    This album, from 1970, is an excellent example of British psychedelia. The album is divided in half between instrumentals and vocal arrangements. Three Little Piggies is the only truly terrible song of Twink's debut album. To these ears, this album is much more interesting (actually it's pretty great)and less annoying than Syd Barrett's solo recordings. Rock And Roll This Joint is a cool bluesy space rock instrumental that predates and sounds a little like the great Pink Fairies. Ten Thousand Words In A Cardboard Box, The Sparrow Is a Sign, Suicide, and Tiptoe On The Highest Hill are all mini psychedelic classics full of mellotrons and freak out guitar solos. This album is a fine addition to any late 1960's/early 1970's experimental rock collection.

    This 1970 reissue of the Pink Fairies drummer/vocalist is nothing short of true brilliance.The first five cuts here that include "Ten Thousand Words In A Cardboard Box","Dawn Of Magic","Fluid" plus two more certainly get the brain cells a frying.The rest of the disc shows just how diverse Twink can get.On cuts like "Mexican Grass War" or "The Sparrow Is A Sign",one might honestly believe they originally came off of another record.'Think Pink' was Twink's first solo outing,as this psych gem is an absolute must-have.The fellow musicians that gave Twink a hand on this lp include Pretty Thing's rhythm guitarist John Povey,Deviant's bassist Honk,Tomorrow's John Wood and T.Rex's Steve Peregrine Took(R.I.P.).An underground UK classic from the 1968-72 era.

    Twink was the drummer of Tomorrow, and he later became the core member of the notorious Pink Fairies. Between these period Twink came out with some surprisingly interesting project, and "Think Pink" is among the best. A great work comparable to Syd Barrett "Madcap Laughs", Peter Green "The End of the Game", Tyrannosaurus Rex "My People were fair...", etc. The first 8 track were great heavy psychedelic stuff with lots of sound effects. The first track "The coming of the one" included sitar accomplishment... and the best songs included "Ten Thousand words in a cardboard box" and "Tiptoe of the highest hill". "Fluid", "mexican grass war" were mad free jams, and so did "rock and roll the joint". "Suicide" is another great song. The weakest points in the album is Steve Peregrin Tooks' compositions, "Three little piggies" and "The sparrow is a sign", which oddly disrupt the whole album's dreamy atmosphere and turned it down into some drunk murmuring. Overally speaking, a must for 60's psychedelic lovers.

    Label's very first CD release. Maybe not the Pink Fairies drummer best work, but an 'okay' compilation of Twink's repertoire. Some of the tunes here I liked best were "Baron Saturday", "Seize The Moment" (sort like an anthem to me,personally), Tomorrow's pop-ish "Three Jolly Little Dwarfs" and the disc's three Fairies tracks, the awesome rocker "The Snake", "War Girl" and the closest they've ever had to an actual hit, "Do It". You know, I've honestly heard folks out and about sing this song's lyrics to themselves; like when they're trying to kill time. Completists will obviously get more out of this CD than the average fan.
