Hidari Mae

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Hidari Mae began in a living room in Concord, CA as a collaboration between Andy Myers, Eric Fisher, and Joshua Myers. Andy had written some songs on a miniature acoustic guitar that caught the attention of Josh and Eric. Josh and Andy had just found a wurlitzer piano at a garage sale for 20 bucks and decided to put it to use. Along with Eric on the acoustic guitar, they started arranging the songs, and recording them. Josh and Andy played synthesizer and drums in a band called Mercury, so Hidari Mae remained in the shadows as a side-project. After Eric had moved to Seattle, Josh and Andy began the long process of recording the number of songs that had been piling up in Andy's head. Andy eventually moved to Seattle, but he and Josh continued the project long-distance. Today, Hidari Mae is based in Seattle with Andy once again working with Eric, along with drummer Greg Danforth. They are currently writing songs and playing shows. Josh will continue to record and produce the project in the future.

Album Description
Hidari Mae's songs are carefully plucked mysteries with subtle nuances that compel you to repeat listening. Make no mistake, the hypnotic, arpeggiated guitars, the ghost-like vocals and the beautiful melodies of singer/guitarist Andy Myers will pull you in from the first listen. But stick around for more spins and you will be rewarded. Soft, strange washes of keyboard and organ will appear. Vocal harmonies will come forward. Lyrics that convey a resigned sadness intertwined with hope will get stuck in your head. Indeed, this emotional contradiction provides the disc's central mystery: whether things are as they should be, or if they've pretty much gone wrong. This feeling kicks in on the somber but amazingly catchy opening track, "Anonymous" and pulses through the rest of Hidari Mae's tunes (14 in all).

I saw this band months ago and finally found their CD.This album is a very unique style of song writing along with heartfilled vocals. Every one should hear this band, they are a much needed music in an otherwise bleek scene.........
