Headin' Down To Henry's
Sam Prestiani - S.F. Weekly, 12-22-98
"The Wags good-time country blues and rags may make you want to holler in your pitcher of home brew, drop your drawers on the barroom floor, and prance around like a sailor on shore leave in prohibition-era San Francisco."
From the Artist
We have a lot of fun playing music and it really shows in our recordings, and our live performances. Old time instruments and arrangements combined with modern songwriting and improvisation make every show a unique experience and give a great "Live" feel to our records.
Album Description
The Wags are a hot San Francisco acoustic band that mixes influences of Country Blues, Ragtime and Swing into a modern original straight up shot of fire water. The result is a uniquely humorous, ribald and entertaining presentation. We like to call it "Yardcore." Capt. James Cook's stark songwriting style and hard, fast fingerpicking sets the mood for this menage. Add to this some swinging stand-up bass, piano, trumpet, trombone, spoons and percussion and you have the euphoric cocktail called The Wags.
