Good LCD, good price!.......2005-04-15

In the beginning I too was surprised by the fuzziness, colors, etc... but after dealing with adjusting all kinds of settings, and reading the reviews I narrowed the problem down to the video card, the old VGA only video card just won't do it, it's like having an elder driver trying to drive a brand new Ferrari, if you haven't gone digital (DVI) yet, do it! Just wish I had waited for the new Samsung SyncMaster 910t 19" LCD Monitor Silver (www.ipkonfig.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=164&Itemid=29&limit=1&limitstart=0), although next time I may go for a new xtreme formac 19" LCD (http://www.formac.us/p_bin/?cid=solutions_displays_gallery1900_011) for my gaming PC

We shopped thoroughly online and at Best Buy, Circuit City (how do they stay in business?), etc. before buying two of these monitors to replace CRT dinosaurs. Couldn't be happier. Love the pivot capability -- mine's pivoted for good -- enabling me to see entire Word documents at once and whole web pages without scrolling. Great color and clarity, comparable to the higher resolution 21" screens that cost twice as much.

I use this with Windows XP at the native resolution and it is quite sharp and bright with good color. In my opinion Samsung's choice of 1280x1024 resolution is the best for this size monitor. XP
has difficulties rendering readable fonts at higher resolutions, and 1280x1024 allows for legibility without the problem of microscopic font sizes. The pivot feature is pretty slick, and would be useful for editing word docs in page layout format.

I bought this monitor for my girlfriend and the first thing she tried to do was to increase the resolution. I couldn't blame her because 1280 x 1024 on a 19" LCD is just not small enough. It's like being on 800x600 on what you are used to on a CRT. My recommendation is that 1600x1200 is MINIMUM on a 19"!!!!!!!!

Fuzzy Text? CHECK NATIVE RESOLUTION!.......2004-12-03

This applies to all LCD monitors regardless of analog or digital inputs.

I've talked to to many people who have complained about the fuzziness of their monitors, and it was all because they did not have it set to the native resolution.

All LCD monitors have a Native Resolution. This means every pixel generated by the computer is represented by a pixel on the monitor. If you don't have it set to the native resolution, the text will ALWAYS be fuzzy.

This monitor supports a native resolution of 1280 x 1024. Make sure you have your video card, display/monitor control panel set to this before making any adjustments.

If the option is not available, you may need to upgrade your video card, drivers.... or computer!

As for this particular monitor and brand, samsung is leading the way in LCD technology, their LCD TVs will soon be the standard, especially if Sony continues to use older style LCD technology.
