Customer Reviews:
Good Product.......2007-05-14
This has worked well for the managers on our team. They've gained a lot of desk space through using the monitor arm mount. It is very steardy.
Very flexible.......2006-10-17
Very good hardware for the price.
Pros:
* Solid construction, dual table clamps
* Quite flexible (swivel, pan, tilt, rotation)
Cons:
* Not fully flexible; height adjustable +/- 1" by moving bolt holes only.
* Cable management pretty useless (just use zipties)
Great product. Very Well Built and Solid.......2005-06-09
The quality is way better than what I expected, and it's holding my monitors very securly. I like the added flexability of being able to go from portrait to landscape very easily and setup was a breeze.
Regarding the other review about it being too loose. I actually had the opposite problem. Mine was too tight.
But not a big deal (and shouldn't be a big deal for the guy that complained about i being too loose). You can actually adjust the tightness for all of the joints. Just pop off the plastic covering of the joint and you will see some bolts. Grab a wrench and tighten away (or loosen in my case).
Love it. It's great.
Stay away, not worth the aggravation........2005-05-10
I had great expectations for this arm. It's specs said it could handle a monitor up to 20 lbs, my Samsung 21" weighs approximately 15-16 lbs without it's stand. Perfect I thought.
The installation was easy enough, and yes, the arm does support my monitor's weight. However, the monitor's weight makes it tilt down towards the desk, making it impossible to view the screen properly. There are no tension adjustments for the swivel that controls the tilt, so the only way to keep the monitor from tilting down because of it's weight is to put an object on the desk under it. Kind of defeating for a monitor arm that is supposed to add freedom of motion.
I suggest looking for a monitor arm that allows you to adjust the tenstion of the swivel. There are a few such as Humanscale's M7 monitor arm that have a balljoint instead, that can be adjusted (screws on the VESA mount) so as not to have this problem.
Kensington themselves have been less than helpful in trying to come up with a solution for this problem. They suggested that since my monitor is not on their "compatible monitors list" which is just outdated in my opinion, it's not their problem. Yet on their list are monitor models that weigh 3-6 lbs MORE than mine.
I guess a heavier monitor that they add to their list defies the general laws of physics as well.
All in all stay away from this.
