Barebones.......2006-07-27

I haven't had the monitor long, but am mostly pleased with it. The clarity and color are very good.

However..... the screen adjustment menu lacks any way for you to stretch the projection vertically or horizontally. At least, I haven't found such a setting. What this leaves you with is a vertically elongated image. For instance, if you have a picture of a perfect circle on the screen, it will appear taller than wide. The only way to combat that is to set the resolution to the highest possible setting, which, frankly, requires microscopic vision to tolerate.

I just got this in and hooked up to my computer. I am so impressed with the picture quality and clarity. This is the first LCD monitor that I have ever gotten and I don't regret it one bit. I did research before I bought this and it had great reviews on other sites so I took a chance and bought it. I got a refurbished one on Overstock for $199 and it's great. I would highly recommend it.

This was OK, but just OK. One dead pixel, no driver on CD (Had to get it from the ACER support site, didn't matter because the quality wasn't improved. Spend a few dollars more for a Samsung or Viewsonic.

Excellent monitor for the price!.......2006-11-07

I was a bit nervous about purchasing this monitor sight-unseen, since everyone's idea of what looks 'good' or 'right' is a little different, but I figured for the price it was worth a shot.

I'm thrilled I took a chance!

I use this particular computer mainly for the very visual task of photo editing, and for this purpose, the Acer is an ace. Spectrum and intensity seem true to life, with prints appearing very similar in color and intesity to what I see on the screen.

The only downside is that max brightness is still a bit dark for some gaming applications - not horrible, just wish I could up it a bit more.

Otherwise, I have no complaints about this well-made product. I'm a very happy camper.

NICE!.......2006-10-07

Ordered last Friday, got it Tuesday! This monitor, my first LCD, is SOOOO much brighter than my old 17" CRT that it isn't funny! BTW, don't ever get anything by Envision! They stink to high heaven. My old monitor had to be repaired after only two years of use and was acting like it was going to go on the fritz again, hence.... Of course, the Acer is brighter and prismatically high key off axis, unlike the CRT, but straight on, the colors and images leap out at you like rabbits on caffeine. The on-screen menu takes a little getting used to, but you soon get the hang of it and the whole thing hooks up just like a regular monitor...no drivers needed or anything, in just seconds! Instead of 16", i get a true 17" viewing area and much better defined image edges. If this is the wave of the future, I'm getting a surfboard!

As an initial disclaimer, this is the first flat panel monitor I have ever owned, although I have used different models at various institutions of higher learning.

When I first got this monitor at my office, it took a little bit getting used to, but only because I had been using a traditional CRT monitor. If you do a lot of word processing, the text is going to appear quite different.

As far as I can tell, given my limited experience with LCD monitors, this one is well worth the rather low asking price. The resolution is sharp, it displays pictures in bright colors, and the monitor is quick, that is there is little to no "ghosting."

I have not used this monitor for playing video games, so I cannot speak to its suitability for the same. I would, however, strongly recommend this item as a good all around monitor at a spanktastic price.
