You really shouldn't question why this Viewsonic 912b is such a superb monitor. With its 19" screen and incredible value, you should ask why more desktop computer owners have yet to get this model. The 912b is simply perfect for average, everyday, use from writing papers, doing finance, browsing the web, viewing videos and photos, and playing fast, action games. At under 8 inches deep (on its included tabletop stand), this monitor occupies little desk space - allowing for either smaller desks or more space to work with. It's also wall mountable using an optional VESA 100 compliant wallmount. You'd be quite amazed at how sharp and bright this display is and. with virtually no glare, relaxing to use even when spending lots of time on your computer. This particular monitor offers a rapid 8 milliseconds response time. That means there is no ghosting with rapidly moving images so you can use this to display fast, graphic-intensive, action games. Renders great images, sharp text, pics. A great monitor and a great price at the time purchased. Unless you are bent on a widescreen, this is a great option and with everything moving more toward widescreen formats, probably a great time to pick up on this one. I have been using mine for over 1 year without so much as a single pixel problem.

A great 19 inch LCD Monitor.......2007-02-21

I have had this monitor for over a year now and it has been a great experience. The picture quality is excellent and the monitor looks attractive even when the computer is off (I have it attached to a PC in my living room). Unlike some other reviewers, I have not had any color problems or distortions with the monitor and have used both the VGA and DVI inputs.

2 minor gripes.
1. The power button is small and difficult to turn off - it doubleclick - I often turn the monitor off and it comes back on.
2. The volume controls are cumbersome, but I don't use the monitor speakers anyway.

Great monitor.......2007-02-19

This is a bright, clear, large LCD monitor for a good price. That's all that I care about-- it works as it should.

I am returning it today...........2006-10-09

I bought this from frys and am returning it today. Maybe it's only me, but mine had really bad quality and distorted images. I had 17" LCD monitor from viewsonic and was replacing it because it has similar problem. Now, 19" has same problem and I am done with viewsonic. I am not going to use viewsonic monitors again. Instead, I am going to try samsung ones.

Poor reliability.......2006-06-03

I have had several of these monitors. I use a two-monitor set-up.

The backlight on the first burned out one month out of warrantee. ViewSonic would not replace the first monitor- fair enough as it was out of warrantee. I purchased a replacement. When it came, the screen was blue, and the color could not be adjusted. ViewSonic sent a replacement which had a green screen, and again, the color could not be adjusted. They were unable to find another VA912b, so they sent a different model to replace it.

Meanwhile, my second monitor, again a VA912b burned out the backlight after less than six months of use.

Beware that the glowing reviews you see for this monitor may not take into account its poor reliability. Should you choose this monitor, be sure to get an extended warrantee! Better yet, do yourself a favor and choose another model or manufacturer.

An inexpensive option to an Apple Cinema Display.......2007-03-19

For quite a while I'd been looking for a widescreen monitor to go along with my Mac Pro, but trying to stay clear of the expensive Apple Cinema Displays. Recently it dawned on me that I could get as much (or more) screen real estate by putting two 17-inch monitors side by side. So I set out to look for another Envision monitor, since the other one I owned (the one I was using with the Mac Pro already) had worked out just fine for us.

When I found this silver beauty I knew I was in front of the solution I had been looking for. The design is not unlike the Cinema Displays, with silver casing and a curved stand, but besides this and the impeccable image quality, most important is the price tag: for a fraction of the price of a comparable Apple monitor, you can get this one, which will look just as good next to an Apple computer.

So, if you like me want to fit your Apple tower with a good looking monitor with good image quality, without spending an arm and a leg: seek no more. And if you still are lucky, you may be able to find it for even less (I paid $[...] for mine) at Costco.

Viewsonic VA912B LCD is a great buy!.......2007-01-09

I bought this for our second system and replaced an older 17" LCD. This is so much nicer and for the money, delivers a very good picture. My wife uses this for graphic work and she hasn't complained once. Well, she did say how nice it was and the bigger screen was perfect. I can't see any problems running video on it either. Color and pixelization are fantastic. I only made some minor adjustments to the screen and haven't touched it in three months. This is definately a great buy!

Viewsonic VA912B 19" LCD Monitor.......2006-06-02

I love this monitor!! I use a Dell at work and this monitor has just as beautiful a picture, if not better. It is clear and the colors are great. I am very pleased with this monitor.

Better than my Dell at work.......2006-04-15

I recieved this monitor today. Hook up was real easy. All cables included, even the DVI cable. I have a Dell 19" at work and couldn't stand my 17" ViewSonic CRT anymore at home. Decided to spend the money. Picture quality is great, better than the 19" Dell (about 6 months old). Don't know why, could be the response time of 8ms.

Had to run a manual install because I was running XP, but the instructions were clear and it went without a hitch.

I like the autoadjust feature for picture quality. Seemed to work good for me. I did it while I was looking at the adobe instructions, so it made it nice, clear and bright (white with black lettering). Ran a dead pixel checker I found on-line. No dead pixels.

Looked at other stores, cheaper prices by a few dollars out there, but the shipping added up. Decided with Amazon since I know I can trust them if I had probelms.

I don't do much gaming, but edit pictures with Adobe. Picture quality looks great. Speadsheets/Word/email look real good too.

I was going to get the VA20b but decided on this model because of the dual input options DVI and analog. I am only in the analog mode, but figure for a few extra bucks I can have a monitor that can be used with my next computer purchase in a year or so. I did quite a bit of research, and kept going back to viewsonic, 19". Decided against wide screen, since I don't watch movies on my computer and the actual screen area is bigger on this model since the 19" is measured diagonally on both models.

All in all, very satisfied.
