the only glitch was software ...the monitor does not magically display the pictures or desktop when you rotate the monitor you must right click and select. The display is perfect. Worth the little extra money. It's value and quality far above the myriad of all the others. As a photographer I can really evaluate my work. If I need photoshop it's now a pleasure to work with.

Flat Panel Monitor.......2007-01-05

My monitor came with a dark "smudge" in the top right corner - since it doesn't interfere with anything, I left it alone. I don't have any random pixels on the screen or any bright spots. The color and tone are excellent.

This monitor is easy to adjust color space and set up a color profile to use with my pro photo printer. WYSIWYG

It's a great monitor although I think I'd get the 24" if I could have a do over.

Great quality picture but noticable input lag.......2006-11-22

Picture quality is beautiful. The stand is sleek, sturdy & adjustable. This monitor is awesome in every way except for the fact that there is some input lag. Basically what that means is there's a small delay between mouse movements and movements of the on screen cursor. Input lag is an issue that affects larger LCD monitors, notably S-PVA, S-MVA, and Overdrive-TN panels. Most people may not notice it... it's very minor... yet gamers might get annoyed by it. I'm not a gamer, but I definately can feel the lag, especially when compared to a CRT. I've kind of gotten used to it by now but I'd rather live without the lag.

Big, beautiful monitor.......2006-08-28

Excellent aspect ratio and working area. Superb sharpness, color, brightness, contrast, build quality. No bad pixels so far. Good software functionality. A lower minimum stand height and easier-to-use software would make it perfect.

Samsung's 214T lords over other 20-inch panels with a screen that measures 21.3-inches on the diagonal. It boasts a 1600x1200 native resolution, and is encased in a thin-bezeled silver or black cabinet, with an ergonomic stand that offers a telescoping neck, along with swivel, pivot, and tilt functions.

Samsung also throws in a host of trademarked technologies - some built-in and some in the form of bundled software-that are intended to meet the demands of various types of content and user preferences.

MagicTune, for example, is a software supplement to the onscreen display controls, for additional image tweaking. MagicRotation-another bundled app-will automatically rotate your picture when you rotate the screen. And Natural Color provides printer calibration screens and custom-profile creation. The 214T also offers video and S-video inputs and a picture-in-picture mode for viewing content from multiple sources. All this, of course, comes at a premium.

The price tag seems warranted when you view digital images and DVDs on the 214T's screen. With its true, deep black and stark, luminescent white, it's no wonder the screen's contrast is outstanding. Colors themselves are eye-popping and subtle detail appears distinct even in dark, shadowed areas. Indeed, I was convinced of the 214T's abilities even before it aced DisplayMate's battery of evaluation scripts.

I was, in fact, smitten with the big beaut, until it came to gaming, where signs of ghosting in three different titles left me cold. While the environments themselves looked stunning, movement-particularly in areas of high contrast-revealed a lag in screen-redraw times. For some folks, this is not an issue, and they'll happily reap the benefits of the 214T's gorgeous screen in all its other uses. For me, however, it's enough to make me pass.
