Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Amazing monitor for gaming or work.......2007-05-29

I have owned the ViewSonic VX924 LCD Monitor for well over a year now and I could not ask for more from my first LCD! I upgraded from a 17" Compaq CRT and the difference was staggering to say the least. Setup could not be any easier, there is a straight to forward guide that comes with the monitor but it simply is not needed as I got everything hooked up within minutes. The most noticeable difference as soon as I powered it up was of course, the HUGE screen. Granted, it may have been a little breathtaking for me having upgraded from a very low end CRT, but the colors were crisp, vivid and the black is exceptionally transitioned with other colors. It is a very bright screen straight out of the box, so much that I actually had to turn it down quite a bit but it just comes to show how much power this thing has.

It is primarily a gaming LCD, and it is arguably the one that brought LCD monitors into the world of fast response gaming found in many shooters. The 2ms response time is as fast as it gets and I have yet to experience any ghosting whatsoever. Probably the nicest thing to hear about after purchasing an LCD monitor is that it came with absolutely no dead pixels which was quite a relief but not a huge surprise knowing the quality of products that ViewSonic has been known to make. If you're in the market for a nice big LCD whether it be for gaming, work, or typical home use, it certainly is hard not to go wrong with the ViewSonic VX924.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Monitor.......2007-01-10

I have owned this monitor for a year with no problems. Sometimes I think the colors are a little on the dark side, as compared with my monitor at work, but I am not too picky. I would buy another one.

3 out of 5 stars Not impressed for the money........2006-12-02

I bought this monitor because of good reviews and industry feedback. I am not seeing it. I am guessing that many folks are awed by this as their first LCD monitor.

I've seen other, far less expensive, LCD monitors that deliver as well or better.

On the plus side, not a single dead pixel.

3 out of 5 stars 3 dead pixle industry standard.......2006-08-04

Seems like a great monitor except for the BRIGHT RED dead pixle in the middle of the screen. At least Newegg advertises their dead pixle policy - ordered from AMAZON because have had good customer service in the past, and didn't want to have to deal with dead pixles. GUESS WHAT - AMAZON's unadvertised dead pixle policy is over 3 dead pixles to be considered defective. You have to eat the shipping for anything less. Go to a store where you can actually see this monitor hooked up before you can buy it. Or you may get stuck with a defective product or have to eat the shipping. You're definitely taking a chance ordering a monitor online - you pay for the defects.

4 out of 5 stars Decent Monitor.......2006-07-20

I bought it and it was very fast shipping, im pleased with amazon.com and how fast they were able to ship my order. I took it out of the box, plugged it in and used the supplied DVI cable and connected it to my Geforce 6600GT. this monitor worked very well. I downloaded a utility just recently to check for dead pixels and found none. Ive seen a couple of bad reviews on this screen. The color is off a bit, the darker shades dont like to show their deep contrast(ive never seen an lcd produce good contrast in black or darker shades) the sRGB option makes everything washed out and very bright. The response time is good, i use VSYNC in all my games and they look really nice(with any LCD, vsync off option looks bad because of LCD's slower refresh rate 60Hz on most, but this unit can do 75HZ which is a bit better) I dont like the color contrast, and darker colors dont show up correctly, but other than that, this screen is a great deal, it consumes less power and less space than your older CRT and is a good deal for the money.
