Through down-home storytelling, Reba McEntire offers her fans a glimpse into her personal life, as well as a healthy dose of traditional, God-lovin' values. Like a quilt, McEntire's book of country comfort is stitched from real-life material--little scraps of wisdom that miraculously piece together into a heartfelt mosaic.
Right from the start McEntire establishes herself as a "modern country woman," able to explore a spider's web with her son as deftly as she can explore the World Wide Web. Herein lies the strength of McEntire's writing, her ability to apply the old, country traditions to the more contemporary values that her readers are likely to identify with. Chapter titles such as "Tougher Than You Think," "A Mama's Way," and "Let a Smile be Your Umbrella ... but Don't Forget Your Raincoat" all allude to the grit and honey texture of this loving book of back porch inspiration. --Gail Hudson

Customer Reviews:
Comfort from a Country Quilt.......2006-08-26
I found myself reading with Reba's voice in my head. Very good reading.
It really is like a quilt ..........2006-01-18
Warm and snuggly -- like the woman herself. I'm glad Reba found the time to write this book. It's as though she's watching my family from outside in the bushes. Which I think would be illegal, so I hope she's not. Anyway, thank you Reba for changing my life, by changing the way I use blankets. You're No. 1 in my book and your book's No. 1 with me.
reba at it again.......2003-06-19

What I thought..........2002-02-01
"Comfort from a Country Quilt" is a warm-hearted biography in which Reba McEntire describes the love that she has for her family, friends and music. Reba takes us back to the good ol' days when she was living in Oklahoma. Every person mentioned in this book have unique personalities, with their own talents and gifts. Reba shares old fond memories, and funny stories of her many tours and trips on the road. Reba is a great story teller. She captures you, and puts you into her life. It's almost like you have become part of the McEntire family! Reba digs down deep and describes each detail so vividly. I felt as if I had been there to witness it all!
I think this was a light, sweet hearted book. Reba gives advice to everyone about faith, dreams, happiness and family. She proves to others that nothing, not even fame can take away the importance of family. Reba wrote this book in a light, airy sort of way that makes it enjoyable. The many humorus memories make it entertaining, and the sweet tear-jerker memories make it sweet. Reba must have had fun writing such a happy go luckily novel and I enjoyed reading about her life and how she became the person she is now. I also really enjoyed reading about her faith in the Lord, it was neat to learn about her faith and how she handles her fame.
