Customer Reviews:
Sci-fi + sex = a great novel.......2006-08-30
Definitely the most exciting and interesting sci-fi book I have read in years. A terrific work from a first-time author. If you love sci-fi and sex you will not be able to put it down. Through the vehicle of mind transference Carleton Heaviside allows you to explore sexual fantasies in explicit detail: old man in a young man's body, man in a woman's body, woman in a man's body, young woman in an old woman's body - all graphically described(this book is not for the faint-hearted or unsophisticated adult). A true joy from beginning to end. I can't wait for the sequel.
This book should get 10 stars.......2006-04-14
This was by far the best written book I have ever read. This book makes the DaVinci Code look amateurish. I really loved this book. A truly amazing book written by a brilliant writer. I have read a ton of stuff and nothing is so detailed, precise and done with excellent skill. The technical parts are described in such a way that you understand and see it as if you are there. A real page turner that you absolutely cannot assume or guess what will happen next. You haven't read a great book until you have read this one.

Book Description
The public remembers one Amy Fisher: the sixteen-year-old "Long Island Lolita" who shot the wife of her lover. But for Amy herself, life hasn't stood still. A decade and a half later, she has grown into a reflective, confident, and happy 30-year-old woman, an award-winning newspaper columnist, and a devoted wife and mother.
Here, in this intensely personal book, she tells her story-clearing up the many misconceptions about who she was, what she did, and who she is now. Amy:
-Talks in detail about her childhood, her relationship with Joey Buttafuoco, the shooting, life in prison, parole, and how she has pieced her life back together again;
-Provides never-before-told details about her time in prison;
-Takes full responsibility for the impulsive, unthinkable crime of her youth;
-Serves as a source of inspiration, proving that rehabilitation and redemption are achievable;
-Delivers advice to parents and teens from her unique perspective-including warning signs and action plans-on how to keep out of danger and avoid potentially deadly choices.
-Shares her vision on gun control and minors and ending domestic violence and the abuse of women in prison

Have read better.......2007-02-09
Not that well written. Some of it was more than a little hard to believe.
Would not have bought for myself.
Refund.......2007-01-19
I never got this item because it turned out to be out of stock. I did get a very prompt refund from the seller, and am still shopping for the item.
Very interesting read.......2006-08-26
All I knew about Ms. Fisher's life was from random items in magazines and the news. I always knew the public wasn't getting the full story or even half of a truthful story by the way she was portrayed in the media, and it was interesting and important for her to set the record straight.
Amy was the ultimate latchkey child. By her admission, she was literally left alone her entire later childhood and teen years, practically raising herself when her father wasn't home terrorizing her. It's no wonder she became as confused as she did and found a nefarious fellow like Buttafuoco seductive.
She most certainly survived her share of abuse in prison and didn't let it harden her or derail the rest of her life, despite the especially long sentence for her crime of assault.
One thing I can say in the negative is that the "I'm a good person" thing did get a little tiresome towards the end. I could hear myself saying "Okay, Amy, I get it, you really ARE a good person!" But that's all I can say negative about this memoir. It was a very good thing that she wrote it, not only to dispel any rumours or misunderstandings about her case (I too had always thought Mary Jo had gotten shot in the face), but to also be a testimony to starting over.
She also adds a common-sense guide at the end to parents who need it spelled out for them in case they wonder if their child is headed for trouble.
Two Sides to the Story.......2006-07-30
For many years we heard what Joey Butafuoco had to say as Amy Fisher was silent or at least she was told not to say anything. But now Amy Fisher finally tells her side of the story in this autobiography book about the horrific, near fatal act of violence that took place on May 19, 1992.
If I Knew Then...sends the readers back to the 90's as Amy Fisher tells her side of the story. She shares how Joey charmed and manipulated her and she admits to being a naive, troubled teenage girl. In the book, there are stories about what goes on in womens prison and Amy "tells all" about her experiences with inmates and guards.
The book, If I Knew Then... provides true stories about child abuse, warning signs for parents about troubled teens, and life in prison.
As a woman who was charmed by an older man, pregnant and married at eighteen-years-old, abused in a ten year marriage, and the mother of three teenage daughters, I have to admit that Amy Fisher made some valid points in her book. Teresa Brouwer [..]
If I Knew Then by Amy Fisher......I loved this book!.......2006-03-09
When the news broke out on the television about this young teen girl who shot her lover's wife, how old the "lover" was, and then I heard him talk a few times on the news, etc.....I smelt a fish!! Rotten fish at that!
I was a victim of sexual abuse as well as mental and physical abuse while growing up, and I told myself then and there....HE was to blame for everything and took advantage of a poor young girl for his own pleasures! He just made me vomit!!
I could not wait for this book to arrive and I enjoyed the fact that I was right about Joey all along!!
I felt so bad for Amy as I know what it feels like to be abused and cussed out and the sexual abuse alone can pull you under for years.
I am so thrilled for this young woman who struggled to turn it all around for herself and I am so happy she is doing well now! God bless her!!
Our society is so quick to kick the poor person down on their luck and think the worst of them and we need this to change. Stop judging others! Put yourselves in THEIR shoes. Be forgiving and have compassion for all life.
I wish you well forever, Amy dear....you are a good person and hold your head up high! We are all good...it is the circumstances in life we need to change so that all children have a good life without abuse of any kind!! Amen!

Book Description
The first CHAMPS/Life Skills programs began in the early 1990's and since then have erupted: more than 450 colleges and universities currently have progams. The University of Arizona has been used as a model nationwide for programming in academics, athletics, personal development, career development and community service. The importance of life skills and of having a broad based experience cannot be overestimated and there is a push for much more programming at the high school level.
In collaboration with the NCAA, student-athletes were surveyed at the NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference, through life skills program coordinators, as well as national student-athlete advisory committees. Dr. Cedric Dempsey, former President of the NCAA has written the foreword for this groundbreaking book that details NCAA student-athlete's experiences in the 5 areas of CHAMPS/Life Skills. Student-athletes share their top pieces of advice in each area, what they would do differently, obstacles they've overcome, best practices and reasons for their success. Included is an approach the author introduces as P-Factor Analysis. By examining seven "P's": Personalization, Preparation, Process, Problem Solving, Persistence, Perspective, and Pausing, student-athletes can evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and make an individualized "game plan" for improvement. This book also looks at the three "C's" of transition: Changes, Challenges and Choices. Listed in this section are the issues student-athletes have identified that they face. Then we get student-athletes to challenge their current assumptions - are their assumptions accurate? The rest of the book is thoughtful and insightful quotes in each of the areas. The need for this book is overwhelming according to many in the field and as one coach commented, "This should be REQUIRED reading for EVERY student-athlete."
Research has shown that students will often turn to their peers for advice. This is the only book on the market that is specific to student-athletes, to CHAMPS/Life Skills and that offers peer-peer advice. Practical advice and shared experiences covering a wide range of topics make this book different from the others. The response thus far has been tremendous and the book is being endorsed by, among others, Jackie Joyner Kersee, Lute Olson, Dick Vitale, Lorena Ochoa, Doug Weight, Mike Candrea, Ann Meyers Drysdale, renowned sports psychologist Dr. Jim Loehr, Steve Kerr, Jennie Finch, and former Division One National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President, Michael Aguirre. The book has been enthusiastically received by Life Skills coordinators, coaches, counselors, advisors, administrators, parents and most importantly
student-athletes! To date, more than 150 schools are supporting it as well as the U.S. Olympic Committee, the National Junior College Association, the National High School Coaches Association and others.
