If you can get past the schoolboy drooling over breasts and lesbians, there is much wit and wisdom to be found in this memoir by radio bad-boy Stern. (Granted, some readers won't really object to the breasts and lesbians...) Stern is a Long Island everyman. On the face of it, his upbringing and early career were not particularly remarkable. But when HE tells the stories and puts us in HIS shoes, everything changes. An overprotective mother? Stern says she raised him like "a veal." A loving wife? Stern says (probably half-joking) that he stays with her because he does not want to give away half his wealth. In a way, you can sympathize with Stern. After reading about his sexual fantasies and ideas about women, you know his wife has gotta be a saint. And we all know that to live with a saint makes a guy look REALLY bad!
Book Description
The #1 bestseller and fastest selling autobiography of all time, Private Parts, will be released on March 14 as a major motion picture from Paramount Pictures and Rysher Entertainment. This is the event Stern's millions of fans have been waiting for. Yes, The King of All Media is back, letting it all hang out in his outrageous new movie. And here is the book that tracks the odyssey. In Private Parts Stern spills his life story, from his dysfunctional beginnings to his unlikely, turbulent rise to super stardom. In the process, he shares his views on everything from foreign policy to fatherhood and Madonna to masturbation, with lots of lesbians in between. No matter whose side you're on -- Cher's "I hate him. He's just a creep," or Stallone's "I love him. I really love him" -- Stern's brutally frank "Don't ask, I'll tell" tome spares no group or institution.
Studded throughout with Howard's favorite photos, pickings from the Hate-Mailbag and illustrations, this is the original, in-your-face manifesto complete with movie art that will once again have fans storming the bookstores...and everyone else running for cover.

....and i thought i was disfunctional!.......2006-11-04
a rather interesting bio. pretty much the whole book is half bio and half satire and commentary. it definitly give's you a tour into the demented mind of howard stern and as you progress through the book even as raunchy as it get's you finish by saying to yourself "well that made sense"
not for the uptight and not for the easily offended,,,read with an open mind!
A Bathroom Read.......2006-09-16
This is one of those books you can pick up anywhere, read a few pages, enjoy it, and put it down again. Perfect for, er, certain rooms in the apartment.
If you get Howard, you should get this.
A new respect for Howard.......2005-12-18
I work in radio in Chicago. Yes, in radio, the battles for number one are intense. I used to hate Howard only on hear say. And since being in radio, and Howard claiming to be the king of all media and just the fact that the both the book and film are radio based (somewhat) I saw the film first. And I tell you, after I saw the film, I LOVED IT! I began to put all negative thoughts on this genious in the trash. Then I read the book. I laughed so hard that I could not put it down. I was beginning to have a new found respect for him. Even though he may be vulgar on the air, he really knows what he is doing. And not only that, you really saw how much he cares for those closest to him, from his parents to Alison (Too Bad to hear they got divorced) to everyone on his radio team. So all in all, the book and the film gave me a new found respect to the true king of all media. Good luck to him with Serious radio.
one of the best .......2005-10-19
autobios ever written. like the man himself it is hysterical from front to back!
Censored - The New Marijuana.......2005-02-17
Like the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act, Marijuana was too costly to keep paying fines for so no one could grow it anymore. Now it is too costly to allow this man to speak on the air. Bush censored this man. I think that is a crock of s**t.

Book Description
"Mom, where do babies come from?" Many parents live in fear of the day their child asks that questionwhich inevitably happens, often as early as the preschool years. Here is a picture book designed especially for young children who are becoming sexually aware but aren't ready to learn about sexual intercourse. Written with warmth and honesty, Amazing You! presents clear and age-appropriate information about reproduction, birth, and the difference between girls' and boys' bodies. Lynne Cravath's whimsical illustrations enliven the text, making this a book that parents will gladly share with their young ones.
Customer Reviews:
LOVE THIS BOOK!.......2007-06-12
I have a very "inquisitive" 5 year old girl and this book seems to have helped subdue our "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" episodes. It is very descriptive in a biological sense, but the pics are all in cartoon-like depiction. Definitely recommend this book.
Found a little help.......2007-06-11
This was exactly what I needed to help me answer ALL the questions that my 6 yr old had about her/ girl's bodies without getting into the issues of intercourse.
After a lot of research, I came across this option and i was not disappointed. I have already recommended this for this age group.
age-appropriate, descriptive book.......2007-05-24
My son had many questions which were hard to answer on my own. This book made things clear and simple. Since reading this with my son there have been no more questions. I had a hard time finding a book on his 5-year-old age level. This one did the trick.
Perfect book - not scary for the parent at all.......2007-05-02
I have two daughters, 3 ½ and 4 ½ yrs. old. My older daughter wanted to know what "the parts that I can't see are". This placed me in a slightly uncomfortable position because it brought up the fact that I have absolutely no parent training in this department. Growing up in an extremely conservative environment, I was raised not to even admit there were private parts. To be honest, I think that the area was considered more of a void. Since my mother was a Science teacher, we had all of our other body parts just no privates to "speak" of.
So I set out to find a book that would be age appropriate, would not treat the subject as if their private parts as if there might be something dirty about it, would still give my daughters the understanding that there is something private/special about the parts that they own, and have my daughters understand that ultimately the parts have the special ability to create life. Honestly, I thought that this may be too much to want from a book that I intended to read to little people. Well, I got lucky. I happened to be listening to the radio when Gail Saltz was being interviewed. During the interview, she was explaining that she is working on a series of books to help in the arena of the subject of private parts and the body. She went on to explain that the first book, Amazing Parts, was available and was intended just for preschoolers. I looked it up on Amazon and decided to buy it because she did not seem like a weirdo and the book sounded like it could be decent.
The book came and I sat down with both girls. I read through the book with them and went through the illustrations. Since my 4 ½ year old is in the "babies are so cute" stage, she really enjoyed knowing that the parts are responsible for making babies. Her favorite pages of the book are when the egg is shown travelling through the female parts on one page while on the opposing page the sperm is shown travelling through the male parts. She likes to exclaim how they travel so they can get married and turn the page to show that they are shown in a heart. (The authors do not approach the idea of two people being married to have a baby which although I firmly believe that it is best to have an intact system for children, it is not a necessary component to pregnancy and private parts. This to me would be something that the parents should have the right to teach marriage vs. non-marriage relationships.) Honestly, the first time through the book, I was quite scared to think that the authors may have decided to show intercourse on the following page, so I peeked to see that the pages were still okay to read, and they were. The book is perfectly geared for the age group intended. While the book is not written so no questions may be asked, the book is not written in a fashion to create questions that their age group may not be ready to have answered.

I was in dis believe as I started turning the pages I feel It Is too deep for a three year old .The front cover Is very mis leading as to the content Inside.

Even more dick â" A direct look at the male crotch!
Aficionados of the smallest but surely one of the most important male appendages will find this photobook a "must" for their collections. The 'subtle differences' between men are the (big) focal point here. This selection of shots, taken with absolutely no shame either on the part of the models or the photographer, shows what in the gay world holds a level of importance inversely related to its size compared to the rest of the body â" the penis! A direct and very clear look at the male crotch is what fascinates Giovanni.
Customer Reviews:
Private Parts.......2006-11-28
While alot of the current books with nude male models just so conveniently cover the male "parts" for the artistic shot, here is a book that is devoted to all the parts. Bravo!
Views of the Forbidden Zone: Open the Door to Voyeurism.......2006-10-31
Giovanni (whose real identity is withheld, as though being a famous fashion photographer would prevent his being an art photographer as well) enters the region of controversy that has beleaguered the art world for centuries. How many famous paintings go at great lengths to somehow drape the male genitalia for fear of offending the eyes of both women and men - as though no one has other access to anatomy with their own eyes? It remains a conundrum, this false modesty, one that some of our finer contemporary artists are now addressing.
But on to this particular book. As in is previous volumes BITES, this fine photographic survey PRIVATE PARTS in both black and white and color photographs has as its model the male phallus - in varying states of tumescence - and while not every photograph is an art piece (some good shots idea-wise are out of focus or poorly reproduced), the body of work is fascinating on many levels. It is a perfect adjunct to the books written about the importance of size in the male self-perception: while nearly every model sports superior equipment, the sensuous aspect of each photo has more to do with positioning than with girth or preputial statements or piercing. The photographs are for the most part isolated in the privacy of the model's perineum and rarely involve the presence of other models in the same frame.
The question arises (!): in this second successful foray into forbidden territory, an apparent attempt to shine light and acceptance on a subject that most artists and photographers avoid, why doesn't Giovanni follow through with stepping forward with his true identity? Just a question. All things aside, this is a very well designed and executed book that hopefully will make a difference in the psychology of phallus avoidance. Grady harp, October 06
No faces at all.......2006-10-25
This book contains around 123 pictures in a variety of sizes. Some in colors and some in black and white.
If you are only interested in viewing genitals then this book may be something for you. However, there are websites on The Internet that would provide much higher quality in that regard.
I did not appreciate the book because there were no faces in the pictures. I did not find viewing genitals on their own interesting.
That being said, the book certainly contains what one would expect. Hardly the best specimens, though.
Chix luv dix too!.......2006-09-19
I'm not [...], and neither is my girlfriend, but I ordered this book as a gift to her and she was very pleased indeed! She now keeps it stashed by her bedside for those lonely evenings when I'm not available. I learned of her interest in full-frontal male nudes when she complained repeatedly that there is obvious discrimination against males in movies and other media, given the fact that female full-frontals are so commonplace, and their male counterparts almost impossible to come by. Well, she's right, and this book rights that wrong! Buy it for your girlfriend for Valentine's Day.
Striking Photographs.......2006-08-28
From the largest publisher of gay male related books, Bruno Gmunder, comes this photographic essay dedicated to male 'private parts.' The photographer, Giovanni, is the pseudonym of a world-famous photographer who works in the international fashion scene. In most of his work the central theme is located a few feet higher up on the body. In this book basically just the bare nude torso is shown. Most of the book is in exquisitely lighted and printed black and white. Indeed the printing quality is so high that you might think these are true photographs rather than having been printed. There are, however, a couple of sections printed in full color.
Giovanni has selected his models carefully with a penchant for very well built, very well muscled young men. He has posed them carefully, and has a brilliant eye for lighting and shadow.

Book Description
Straight talk for men … and the women who love them
When it comes to the health of their sex organs, even educated, intelligent men become embarrassed and irrational, preferring to ignore a problem in the hope that it will go away and seeking medical advice only as a last resort. Private Parts boldly cuts through the superstition, popular misconception, and general ignorance to provide a reassuring, no-nonsense guide to this area of vital concern to all men.
Dr. Yosh Taguchi, a prominent Montreal urologist, sets out in a straightforward, easy-to-understand manner how the male sex organs function, what is considered normal, and what should be checked out by a doctor. Prostate trouble, erectile dysfunction, infertility, cancer, sexually transmitted diseases, vasectomies, and artificial insemination are some of the common concerns and health issues discussed. Taguchi also dispels myths about sexual performance and male menopause.
In this new, expanded edition Dr. Taguchi also discusses the latest developments in the treatment of the prostate and updates information on drugs for erectile dysfunction.

Its primary message is: "America, please teach our young children about their sexuality before the child molester does." In just 12 pages of rhyme, the book * gives parents a great starting point for having important, candid discussions with their children about recognizing and preventing sexual abuse * names the most common perpetrators of sexual abuse in clear, kid friendly language * informs children about the tactics perpetrators use to trick children * equips children with an action plan for telling trusted adults about abuse * empowers children to say "no" and to get righteously angry if abuse happens
Customer Reviews:
A mom, Co-founder of a national CSA prevention organization in Iceland, public speaker and survivor at speak4change.com.......2007-06-15
Those are MY private parts is exactly what parents and other adults that are concerned about children's well being should be sharing with their kids. The wonderful pictures, riming text and the important message that NO ONE touches your private parts. This is a book I read for my kids regularly and it always opens up discussion. My kids age 4 - 13 and we read it together, like we do other books. I love this book and know that if it had been read to me as a child I would have found a way to speak about the abuse that I suffered for years in my home. I did not know that I could say no to someone touching my private parts! This book has been translated into Icelandic and books sent to every single preschool in the country. I have talked to thousands of concerned parents that have been looking for the right tool to start this delicate conversation, they love this book!! Protecting kids is adults responsibility and that includes to teach appropriate language about body awareness, boundaries and that they can say NO to anybody. Including friends and family. That is much more effective than stranger danger. Over 90% of children abused know the perpetrator. The most important part of reading with your child is the time you spend with your child and the more time we spend with our kids the more likely kids are to share with us their troubles and fears.
A bit of a scarey lesson, but very important.......2007-06-12
Being a victim of sexual molestation I completely understand the importance of teaching your children good touch and bad touch, but I was afraid of making my daughter "think" too much about this stuff. I'm not sure of the right answer, but this may have been a bit too much for a 5 year old. Best defense......keep your children close.
A Must Read Book.......2007-01-27
This book should be given to all parents to read to their children. It is written in a way so that kids can understand the message loud and clear. I was impressed how the book was a great segway for opening up the conversation with my son about the importance of nobody touching his private parts and vice versa. He also loved that the pictures in the book were drawn by another child, that the words were poetic and rhythmic, and that the message empowered him! It really made him feel that he has control over his body. This will be a book that we read over and over again so the message stays fresh.
A must have for all parents and children!
The best book to read to your children........2007-01-11
This book is the best to read to your children. It teaches them that it is NEVER okay for someone els to touch their private parts and it also teaches them that they should be vocal about it if someone does try to touch them. I recommend this book for every parent or guardian of a young child. We need to be the sole protectors of our children, even if it is protecting them from their own family members. There is also additional information for parents which will open up your eyes to reality.
Plain speaking is necessary.......2006-11-12
I bought this book to read to a four year old foster child whose behavior indicated she had been abused. She hung on every word, staring into my face. My 9 yr old became enlightened by it and wound up making a police report against an abuser. She was angry that I hadn't told her what abuse was when she'd first come as a foster child. The thing is that I HAD read her children's books about sexual abuse, but apparently she didn't understand their message. This book is very clear, with its poetic repetition and first person wording "I do not share, No one touches me down there. Those are MY Private Parts!"

Customer Reviews:
Useful information conveyed simply.......2002-06-14
This is a straightforward and utterly sensible book about male plumbing written, in its author's words, "in basic, everyday, real-people language." Its author is a urologist and has a keen sense of his patients' insecurities, fears, and areas of ignorance. Men's magazines (in contrast to women's) have traditionally shorted men on information about their sexual organs. Gilbaugh writes that for years patients asked the same questions, and he wished that he could hand them (and their partners) a book that would supply them with what he feels is basic information that is really essential to health and peace of mind.
Gilbaugh has set things right in this book. He is compassionate regarding the worries that patients live with and bring to him. Problems of impotence, penis size, the varieties and causes of erectile dysfunction, vasectomy, the prostate, the bladder, anomalies of the penis and testicles, issues specific to aging, STDs and other dangers and problems are discussed. Gilbaugh addresses drug treatments and surgical procedures (including a section on "Avoiding the Knife"), cancers of the male reproductive organs, Viagra, AIDS, penis function, infections, dysfunction and more.
Gilbaugh has an easy approach and is informative but not particularly sciencey. He even quotes Winston Churchill on a urology topic. When asked by an impressionable young man for advice upon entering His Majesty's diplomatic service, the great man "pursed his lips for a moment, then replied. 'Young man, never pass up the opportunity to take a leak.'"
This is an informative, quick, and elegantly simple book. If you leave it around, the man of the house just might pick it up and read it from cover to cover, and that would be a very good thing.

AMAZING & AMUSING...GREAT RESOURCE!!!.......2004-02-13
my background is not dissimilar to that of dr. hamilton's, and, as such, i am often asked to recommend reading material (by students and clients alike) related to the subject of human sexuality. rarely have i come across something so well-compiled as Skin Flutes & Velvet Gloves. my goodness, the research is nothing short of phenomenal -- allowing the author to fill her pages with rich, full and, i might add, entertaining content.
a number of my students have not only found this book enlightening, but impetus for further study (as least in regard to the broader subject of human sexuality and it's role in psychology/society) especially important is the fact that this particular volume covers both genders--something no other offering in this field can boast.
i readily give "Skin Flutes & Velvet Glove" a 5+ star rating because it supplies a substantial and impressive amount of information in a well-written and amusing fashion. i hope dr. hamilton will continue to impart her unique, intelligent 'voice' upon those of us who find her works so delightful. how nice to read something that is just...so nicely written, so full of wonderful information, and so capable of giving us more than a few laughs along the way!! BRAVO!
Skin Flutes and Velvet Gloves.......2003-12-17
In spite of its price (new hardcover), this book was well worth it. I'm currently reading it for the second time. I own many books on genitalia, and this is by far the best. I liked the mix of facts and fun. It's an historical treasure for anyone wanting to research the topic. The "Dicktionary" and the bibliography are particularly useful. Dr. Hamilton is to be commended for this very useful (and entertaining) book!
Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask!.......2003-07-12
This book is hilarious! Dr. Hamilton is as humorous as she is serious and factual in presenting the sometimes awkward subject of sex and genitals. This is not material covered in Med. School for sure. I learned more from this book than I've ever learned from any medical text, "street knowledge" or "sex ed." Dr. Hamilton has written a fun, humorous, fact-filled book about almost anything and everything one has ever wondered about the organs between our legs. Because of her use of the coloquial and straight-forward, no nonsense talk approach of the subject matter...I wouldn't recommend this as a "sex ed." book for teens as much as I would recommend that every parent own a copy of this book to be better educated on the subject matter. This book is written with wit, humor and facts in a very comfortable format...While the title may be vulgar to some...the book is anything but. I enjoyed this read with a smile and occassional belly laugh, mainly because Dr. Hamilton presented answers or facts to questions I thought were too warped to ever contemplate finding an answer to. I highly recommend this book for anyone remotely curious about their private parts (or other's for that matter!).
Fun, Fresh, Fascinating!.......2003-01-22
I first learned about Skin Flutes & Velvet Gloves from my girlfriend...literally! We were at a dinner party and someone mentioned some obscure acronym for male genitalia and the next thing I knew, my sweetie launched into a litany of one liners about "spare legs, squirmin' Hermans, big Macs, baloney ponys, trouser trouts, skin flutes..." and so on. We were hysterical if not a bit 'shocked' (especially after she treated us to an equally impressive list of nicknames for female genitals).
The list of names along with the interesting history of genital nicknaming certainly makes for great conversation fodder -- but Skin Flutes & Velvet Gloves takes the reader far beyond this superficial falderal by delving into such topics as the connection between modern-day religion and ancient genital worship; the history of circumcision (more disturbing than one might imagine); odd (really odd!) things folks do to their own 'flutes' and 'gloves'; just to name a few. Dr. Hamilton also provides clear and fascinating info about genitals in general (nice chapters on male/female anatomy - the section on "the black rose" was mind boggling!)
Engaging yet easy read, memorable/unusual factoids, highly entertaining... highly recommended!!!
Left me limp!.......2003-01-15
After reading reviews from readers on this site I was excited about enlighting my knowledge on the male and female "goods", but found myself bored within the first couple of chapters. The so called doc - constantly kills the interest with one liners that leave you yearning for nothing. She desperately tries to appear witty and experienced only to come off as a preformance anxiety filled writer(2-3 stars at best). The physical layout of the book is a desk top publishing nightmare - with the margins so far in on all sides to give minimal words per page, yet streching the length of the book (perhaps an attempt of overconpensation, hehe). This book had huge potential and its a shame a better writer didn't grasp the idea between his/her hands before Hamilton. I'm guessing if you are easily entertained and you've got 20+ bucks to spare, then this would be a good book. Other wise, spend the money on your significant other and learn about the curiosities first hand!
