Make a light exposure unit to create prints of drawings, photographs, and found objects. The fun begins when these techniques turn into projects, including a pretty hand-stamped pillow, a lovely embellished table runner, and a keepsake picture album that features a screen-printed family photo on its cover. Gallery-quality items pictured throughout provide extra inspiration.
Customer Reviews:
Great introductory book.......2007-06-14
I recently decided to take up screen printing and bought this book to help me learn the techniques. I've been very pleased with it so far. The instructions are simple to follow and explained well. There are also images illustrating most steps described in the text, useful for visual people. The author goes through the basics, such as choosing a suitable screen and paint and the equipment necessary, so it's easy to get started right away. The specific projects outlined in the book are fun and interesting, though perhaps best used as inspiration for your own designs. Best of all, the author describes several different ways to make prints, including some that don't involve any toxic chemicals.
This book might not be appropriate for advanced screen printers as I'm sure the information contained in it is pretty simplistic. However, it's great for someone like me who knew nothing about screenprinting before I bought this book. I've created some really great images following the instructions of the authors, and I couldn't be happier with the results.
screenprinting book good for hooby crafters.......2007-02-01
As a screenprinting teacher, I am always on the lookout for good screenprinting manuals to recommend to my students. Unfortunately, this is not one. It is an OK book if you know NOTHING about screenprinting and want to do it for a hobby to make some cards or do projects with your kids, but I do not recommend it for someone who is looking to get into screenprinting more seriously.
Told me everything I needed to know!.......2006-11-04
This book was so helpful! My husband and I are trying to start a t-shirt company and we didn't know were to start. This book showed us all of the different techniques and really spelled out how to do each of them. It was very easy to understand, gave us some great ideas and it even showed us how to make our screen from scratch. I would recommend getting this book if you are wondering how to screen print.
Good book....but..........2006-08-22
..It's a good book all and all but it lacks step-by-setp previews and examples...it does however give a pretty good break down of screen printing and what is needed to do it...
Simple Screenprinting : Basic Techniques & Creative Projects.......2006-06-26
This book was easy and entertaining. I have made my first t-shirt and I love it

Yikes !.......2003-08-30
I'm relatively new to the world of graphic design, but I'm quite comfortable with desktop publishing and computer graphics. I found this book to be a mish-mash of ideas and concepts that confused more than educated. I found over 20 terms introduced in one chapter with no follow up definition or description. The author jumps from one subject to another aimlessly; like going from a discussion on papers to handling a client's budget (she calls it the "Budget Ogre")in the same paragraph. Don't waste your time on this book.
Excellent for beginners.......1998-03-05
This is a somewhat simplistic, but very good book for beginning designers. There are a lot of good samples and the author talks you through the why's and wherefore's. I wish it had more specific information on how to accomplish these designs using more standard software (like Pagemaker). Oh, well, it's still a good book.

Someone is stealing ideas.......2001-05-13
Not to say that this author has, but I have seen the Dee G. vidoes before I bought this book and they seem almost identical. Every technique in this book I have seen first on the Dee vidoes. The only helpful advice that I got from this book was on managing my space. If you have seen the Dee videos, don't waste you money on this book.
Good, comprehensive guide to materials and techniques.......1999-02-11
When I opened this book, I was sorely disappointed that there were few "step by step" instructions. But when I began reading it, I found that it answered almost all of my questions! This book is a comprehensive guide to rubber stamping. Both novice and intermediate stampers can benefit from the creative techniques described in this book. Michele goes through basic stamping materials and techniques as well a more advanced methods including the combination of rubber stamping with computer-generated artwork!
The only "minus" I would give the book is the lack of comprehensive illustrations. The adage "a picture is worth a thousand words" rings true here. While there is a color photo section of examples (and descriptions of each of the techniques applied to make those examples), I feel that the book would benefit from illustrations for each technique on the page describing the technique.
A must have book for all new stampers.......1999-01-04
As a "novice" stamper, this book runs the gamut of basic techniques, to the advanced. It also give a lot of explanation of terms used in the craft, and helps to fill in the blanks. Of all the books and magazines I have relating to rubber stamp, this is the one I turn to most often.
Fantastic!.......1998-10-10
This is a great book covering very basic to more advanced stamping techniques. Full of useful information. I refer to it quite often. I highly recommend it.
Very helpful and full of ideas.......1998-06-04
This is the first rubberstamping book I ever bought and it was definitely worth buying- it's a keeper! Full of ideas and complete explanations, it is very helpful. I would definitely recommend this book for stampers new to the art form, and even to those who've stamped for a while may get some great ideas.
