Non-Engineer Review.......2005-01-20
As a non- engineer, but fully engaged in the Injection Molding business as a recruiter of Plastic Part Design Engineers, this book delivers technical information but easy to read and comprehend. Not just a book on theory, but practical applications. I recommend for non-engineers and engineers.
Excellent book........2003-02-28
This book is excellent. It is technical but easy to understand, has illustrations, comprehensive, and very informative. Highly recommended.
Practical, Hands-on Manual for the Plastics Professional.......2002-09-17
This book reveals the basic background required by personnel in the plastics field in designing parts for injection molding. It has many examples and illustrations of real-life applications instead of endless derivations of equations. It is a very useful, well structured, easy to follow guide for assisting in your design and knowledge of polymer related products.

Dr.Malloy's book reflects the common problems an engineer would face while designing a plastic part. His book takes all the possible design problems that one might not even expect. He deserves 10,0000000**********'s.

Book Description
In barely a decade, the designer toy craze, which originated in Hong Kong, has taken the world by storm. Children and adults, celebrities and design aficionados now line up to pay anywhere from five dollars to thousands of dollars for these highly inventive designer creations.
I Am Plastic provides a colorful visual history of the phenomenon, which has energized not only the toy world but the global art community as well. Fashion designers, comic book artists, underground illustrators, graffiti and fine artists now lend their creativity to the task of coming up with innovative and striking new toy designs. Artists and toys featured in this stunning overview include Frank Kozik, Dalek, Gary Baseman, Bounty Hunter, Junko Mizuno, Jason Siu, Devilrobots, and Pete Fowler.

A Guide to the Beginnings of a New Art Form.......2007-05-11
It wasn't enough to have regular dolls like Barbie or G.I. Joe. Some people had to go messing around with the dolls instead of leaving them as they were. They melted and remolded the limbs, or they substituted a speaker or a model of a radio for a head, or they gave G.I. Joe an orange afro. This was only about ten years ago, and the dolls were coming in from Asia. "It was as if artists were taking toys that I remembered from my childhood and imposing an adult aesthetic on them," writes Paul Budnitz, "They were cute, scary, hip, violent, scarce, expensive, and beautiful." Budnitz, a film-maker with a fine arts degree from Yale, was so taken by the strange dolls that he went to Hong Kong and started a toy company to manufacture more. In _I Am Plastic: The Designer Toy Explosion_ (Abrams), Budnitz has provided three hundred lovely color pages devoted to his obsession, both the designs made by his firm Kidrobot and by many others who are participating in a lively new art form. And if the prices for these items on e-Bay, for instance, is any indicator, there are lots of enthusiasts just as obsessed.
Budnitz asserts that these are true works of art, but that they have an unusual canvas, usually bright, smooth plastic assembled in parts. They come in limited editions, like prints, and many buyers are interested in collecting sets. Because there are so few made, the artists are free to take risks and make something very strange and otherwise commercially infeasible. The artists wind up putting their own money up for production, and spending their own time to sell their sculptures, when of course they'd be happier just being artists. It's a risk, and they want their customers to take a risk on buying, too, and buying just because the offered toy is "really, really weird." Weird they certainly are, and often laugh-out-loud funny; these are generally cartoonish creatures, although some are scary. Often they are beautiful, and the lovely pictures in this book will make anyone want to see the real objects. A set from Devilrobots inexplicably titled "Maffy Kubrick" looks like gumdrops of different colors with smiley faces. Devilrobots also manufactures cubes that come in mock tofu boxes, but the cubes of tofu have faces (usually unsmiling) and are driving around in little bumper cars. Lots look like they would fit into Japanese monster movies, for instance. There are bunnies here, too, mostly in the form of "Smorkin' Labbit", a puffy rabbit figurine whose cuteness clashes with the cigarette in its mouth. The labbit in each of its incarnations is physically identical, except for its paint job, which might be garish, pastel, plaid, or bondage-themed.
There is page after page of whimsical figures, full of color, with molding revealing fine detail. The people who produce these objects obviously love their work. The people who collect them, and pay premium prices, obviously love them, too. I certainly would be more interested in viewing a collection of these pieces than I would a host of items from the Franklin Mint. I didn't know a thing about designer toys before I opened this handsome book, but it is clear that this is a trend that will continue. Perhaps _I Am Plastic_ will be a foundation document for an established art movement in the future, to show the movement's Golden Age, but it stands on its own as a fine introduction into a very odd artistic and commercial endeavor.
Best Vinyl Toys Book ~.......2007-04-23
Vinyl Toys Maniac, this is the best complete book for you. Cool stuff & you'll want to read this book over and over again without gettin bore ~ 2 Thumbs up ^^
inspiring.......2007-03-14
inspiring, amazing , aesthetic value now change .
this book represent new aesthetic approach of toys
great book for toy collectors and enthusiasts.......2007-03-01
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys urban toys. Almost every page has very nice, large photographs of different single works and series. The book displays each toy very well; it includes different views of most of the works and some close-ups. It features artists from all over the world and contains some interviews as well.
Superb photographic manual.......2007-01-12
A simply excellent coffee-top style manual with great colour photography for all fans and serious collectors of Japanese toys. My 11-yr old keeps it next to his bed.

A "must have" for design/manufacturing engineers.......2000-02-12
I teach Product Design Engineering at Ohio State and I can honestly say that Bralla is absolutely the best single reference for working designers and manufacturing engineers that I've found. An incredible compendium of useful info on just about any manufacturing process you can think of, and plenty you HAVEN'T thought of, plus chapters on Design for Assembly, materials, economic considerations - you name it. The book is a bit pricey, but considering the amount of useful information packed into it, it's a steal. Bralla far exceeds McGraw-Hill's regrettably low standards for their handbooks - this one is a keeper!

Book Description
This illustrated fabric dictionary explores the fascinating and satisfying characteristics of the multitude of fabrics available today. Comprehensive lists of fabrics for many uses are given, and over 600 names and terms are illustrated and/or explained. It provides a place for actual fabric swatches, and gives information about mounting swatches. Cerlox binding allows the book to lie flat when open. A comprehensive overview starts the book; it explains how to use the glossary, fiber families, fabric weights, and end-use categories. A section called Fabric Files follows, with notes on mounting swatches, alphabetically-listed fabric files, and references and resources. This book is an excellent resource for use on the job for those in textiles, textile marketing, and the fashion industry because of its clever layout and wealth of information.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful Wonderful Reference.......2004-03-13
Fantastic book! One that is extremely useful and one that I take everywhere with me. Perfect for new designers acquiring fabric sense. I know several firms where this book is a staple reference guide. A+++++
Good Text, But No Color.......2000-06-28
I was a little disappointed that all of the pictures were blackand white. In order for this book to be useful to me, I would have topay [approx. $20.] plus shipping and handling to get the actual swatches used in this reference book.
The text seemed to be very thorough and all fabric types are covered. For the price, I would have expected color photos of the swatches since it is difficult to judge texture from black and white. If you don't mind investing [more money] for the swatches, you'll be happy with this book.

Award-winning, best-selling author with great crafts credentials

Customer Reviews:
Great all-round resin jewellery book.......2007-02-10
I am really happy with this book. It has a great selection of projects and lots of different types of resin jewellery. Lots of pictures. I haven't made anything yet but it seems really easy to follow.
this book is great.......2007-01-10
Sherri Haab can always be relied to to produce great books with funky projects that you actually want to make. Can't fault this one at all - fantastic!
Great Book For Inspiring Artists.......2007-01-10
I am speaking on behalf of my company (Fibreglass & Resin Sales), we sell this book to many customers, although some of my staff have also purchased the book. It has great, handy ideas for those who love their crafts, and even those who are new in the craft world! If you interested in Resin Art, I would recommend this book to get you going!!!
A taste of Resin that will leave you wanting more.......2007-01-08
As a Jewellery teacher who teaches Resin, I have been waiting with baited breath for this book to hit the shelves. Books on Resin are like hens teeth, I have used Kathie Murphys Book as a reference for years, now Sherri's book will happily be added. I especially liked her techniques showing people how to make molds by using margarine/yoghurt containers, polymer clay molds for inserts and her combination of media. Creating Faux work such as Amber is always a winner with students. The projects are accompanied by well written text, easy to follow instructions and excellent photographs, the gallery at the start is wonderful, who would not be inspired by the fabulous work of Lulu Smith and Robert Dancik. To be frank, the projects in the book, with the exception of the glass bracelet and the seed pod bracelet are not to my personal taste, a bit too glitzy and "home made" as opposed to "hand made", but I did not buy to copy her work, I bought it to show techniques and then apply in your own designs, it is perfect for that. I am a Sherri Fan, recommending her Art of Metal Clay to my clay students too, so she now has two books on my recommended list. I hope she does another one, taking this fabulous medium to a higher artistic level.
beautiful book.......2006-07-29
If you know nothing about resin casting, then this book is for you. Easy to follow projects and beautiful photographs make it a snap to get into the groove of resin casting.

Customer Reviews:
Color Please?.......2007-05-02
For nearly $80 I expected a little more. It looks like someone used a copier to make copies of the pages and then spiral bound it together. It looks like something I could have done!
Then I get a burned CD that's been handwritten on? Honestly I don't think it's much to ask that for $80 the book at least look like it was put together professionally. Other than that I have not gone through the content but I am extremely dissapointed in the presentation of the material.
Quark is Easy to Learn.......2007-03-21
I came here specifically to write a good review about the QuarkXpress
training book from Noble Desktop. It's great! I'm not sure why the
gentleman below didn't learn how to put together a book, since this
workbook has step by step instructions on how to create a 120-page
book! And it's amazingly easy. Quark is a pretty easy program, I just
needed someone to walk me through all the steps without having to
figure them out myself. This book showed me how to do simple things,
but also major things like a magazine cover, a few different magazine
articles, a poster, and of course the 120-page book. I highly
recommend it, and I plan on getting Noble Desktop's InDesign book as
well.
QuarkXpress 7 Step by Step Training.......2007-02-19
If someone wants to learn QuarkXpress for the purposes illustrated, this is a good way to accomplish a first time get up to speed ability. If on the other hand, if one wants to learn the program for the purpose of putting together a book, as I am doing, this product will only be a waste of time. I have found an array of eBooks that give me what I need without having to learn all the features of this extraordinary program, and believe it or not, I am now suffering from the program not wanting to export to pdf. So, I have abandoned QuarkXpress, and I am now using Adobe InDesign now for my DTP needs.
Great intro to Quark.......2006-12-13
The text book here presented as well as the hands on class are very clear & consice, taking you truly step by step through the learning process. They only thing better than this book would be taking the class in person at Nobel Desktop's facility in New York City. Both the book & the class are worth every penny and minute of your time. Great investment in your future as a graphic designer!

The answers you need.......2007-06-08
If you want to know how to design stuff that works without getting bogged down in the kind of math that gives most people the sweats, BUY THIS BOOK.
Yes, some of it is showing it's age, but even those bits have an enormous amount of clever design insights and very cool solutions to non obvious problems.
In short, whether electronics is a hobby or a career, you cannot do without this book on your shelf, preferably close at hand.
Helpful? Reference, yes. Teaching/learning, no........2007-06-01
I've used this book for two quarters at ohio university in physics 272 and 273. Other than the fact that the lab courses doen't do much in the way of actual teaching, this text and it's sarcasm is awful.
It does ask a lot of questions, but as a teaching text for an introductory set of labs, it is terrible. You may think I'm just too stupid to benefit from sarcastic questions with no material in the text to answer them, but if that is the case, you are probably some nerd type that knows very little in the way of education.
I'll be selling this set of texts, which is unusual, since as a teacher, I generally keep all my texts for future reference (even my introduction to particle physics by Das, and my quantum mechanics text by Ira Levine)...save money and use google, or wikipedia you will find more detailed answers.
Outstanding.......2007-03-09
This book came well recommended and has not been a disappointment. It is not in the style of anything written by the ARRL for learning LRC and RF material, nor had it been presented as such.
The information is very detailed and very complete. Some areas are a little devoid of extensive material but the reader should be easily guided to finding material that will complete their education.
I found nothing that was inaccurate and that says a lot for any technical publication. It covers most of the basics and does it very well. If you are looking for extremely detailed information in any particular subject, this is not the book for you.
Do not omit this book from your library. It is a de facto standard and deserves a lot of respect.
#1 Source Book For Electronics.......2007-03-08
Without doubt, this is the best single source book on the subject of electronics that has ever been written. Most publications on the subject are too technical with language hardly anyone understands.
The clear straight forward approach, written in everyday language, with a deemphpasis on mathematics, can truly take one from a novice, to a well respected professional. I know, I'm one of them.
Sincerely,
Robert K Walcott
very good book.......2007-02-10
This book contains virtually everything there is to know about electronics, however it may be a bit hard to understand for beginners with no previous experience. Lots of terminology.

Book Description
The first textbook on the design of FRP for structural engineering applications
Composites for Construction is a one-of-a-kind guide to understanding fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and designing and retrofitting structures with FRP. Written and organized like traditional textbooks on steel, concrete, and wood design, it demystifies FRP composites and demonstrates how both new and retrofit construction projects can especially benefit from these materials, such as offshore and waterfront structures, bridges, parking garages, cooling towers, and industrial buildings.
The code-based design guidelines featured in this book allow for demonstrated applications to immediately be implemented in the real world. Covered codes and design guidelines include ACI 440, ASCE Structural Plastics Design Manual, EUROCOMP Design Code, AASHTO Specifications, and manufacturer-published design guides. Procedures are provided to the structural designer on how to use this combination of code-like documents to design with FRP profiles.
In four convenient sections, Composites for Construction covers:
* An introduction to FRP applications, products and properties, and to the methods of obtaining the characteristic properties of FRP materials for use in structural design
* The design of concrete structural members reinforced with FRP reinforcing bars
* Design of FRP strengthening systems such as strips, sheets, and fabrics for upgrading the strength and ductility of reinforced concrete structural members
* The design of trusses and frames made entirely of FRP structural profiles produced by the pultrusion process
